Redskins hire Joe Barry as DC

The Washington Redskins have hired San Diego Chargers linebackers coach Joe Barry as their defensive coordinator, a person with knowledge of the situation confirmed.

The Redskins settled on Barry after a failed attempt to lure former San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator Vic Fangio to Washington.

This is kind of disappointing to hear because I thought Barry would make an excellent DC replacement if Quinn is hired by the Falcons. Barry had eight years of experience working under Monte Kiffin's Tampa 2, which has a lot of the same principles as Carroll's current defense. He has a stellar reputation. Redskins' D should improve under Barry.
