4. Seattle Seahawks: 142-112-2, .559

Dan Quinn picked a good year to take over in Atlanta.

Based on 2014 records, the Falcons will play the easiest schedule in the NFL next season. Of the 16 regular season games Atlanta will play in 2015, only four of those will come against opponents who finished 2014 with a winning record.

The Falcons can thank their horrible division for their "easy" strength of schedule: Every team in the NFC South finished the 2014 season with a losing record.

The Falcons strength of schedule for 2015 is .409, which beat out the Colts (.417) for the easiest strength of schedule next season.

On the other hand, there's the Pittsburgh Steelers, who are going to have to navigate through a difficult schedule if they want to return to the playoffs for the second year in a row.

Based on 2014 records, the Steelers will play the toughest schedule in the NFL next season. The Steelers will play a total of nine games against 2014 playoff teams, plus games against the Chiefs and Chargers, who both finished with winning records, but didn't make the playoffs.

That means the Steelers will play a total of 11 games next season against teams who finished 2014 with a winning record. Again, the Falcons will only have to play four.

The Steelers strength of schedule for 2015 is .579, which beat out the Rams (.576) for the toughest strength of schedule.

Hah. As usual the Patriots have a weak schedule. And this in spite of their winning the SB and supposedly be given the toughest schedule. Another reason they are annual division winners.

22. New England Patriots: 122-134, .477

Home Buffalo, Miami, NY Jets, Jacksonville, Tennessee, Philadelphia, Washington, Pittsburgh
Away Buffalo, Miami, NY Jets, Houston, Indianapolis, Dallas, NY Giants, Denver

Weak because the entire AFC is weak compared to the NFC.
To stick with the SB winner having a tough schedule, you'd have to make the Patriots play the NFC west.

How do we get an easier schedule than the 49ers?I know it's only 1 spot but just curious who makes these schedules? The Pats getting #22 easiest is bull .You finish 1st you get the hardest is the right thing..

Seattle and SF play the same teams other than two games. We play Carolina and Dallas (division winners) and SF play ATL and NYG ( third place in division).

Oh, come on.... the 2010 Carolina Panthers, who finished last in the league at 2-14, were rewarded the next season with the league's hardest schedule.

Then in 2012, after a 7-9 season, they were once again rewarded with the league's hardest schedule.

Second in 2009 after a 12-4 year http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/draft09/n ... id=4027503

What was the record of the team that won the NFC South this year? The 3rd place team in the NFC West would have WON that division this year.

In 2013, THREE teams in the NFC West won 10+ games.

Hey, after that 2012 season (so 2013), what other NFC Division did you guys play against? Oh yeah...the NFC West...the division the Seahawks and Niners reside in.

Speaking of our 2-14 season in 2010, who were both of our wins against? Right, the NFC West.

But back to the scheduling anomalies, any time a division has every team perform well, those teams will have a very high SOS the next season. In 2008, every team in the NFC S finished .500 or better. In 2009, all four teams were in the top 8 for SOS. It is really a meaningless stat.

Cause they play in the NFC Least with a bunch of bungling idiots that can't ever get their crap together long enough to challenge NE.

Pisses me off seeing the smarmy Patriots brag about all their division titles, AFC Championships and SB appearances............yeah, not that hard when you get a 4-5 game head start on the rest of your division every year.

Seems pretty simple to me - the ninners have to play us (making their schedule automatically harder), while we have to play them (making our schedule automatically easier). Voila!

I like it. Gives them a better shot at getting to the Super Bowl and getting their asses handed to them, true redemption style.

This time, if Bennett don't get them, Suh will.

Strength of Schedule is such a fake statistic because teams change so radically from year to year that past performance is nearly useless in the vast majority of cases. The Patriots nonwithstanding given the terrible division they've been in for the last 15 years. Most new generation fans may not even know that the AFC East used to be a monster division similar to the NFC West currently for years before Brady/Belicheck ever graced us with their presense.

yeah, the only strength of schedule that matters is the one that's done after the season's over, and even then it's iffy.
