Supposedly Chip Kelly is shopping Evan Mathis

How good would he look as a replacement for Carp? Very reasonable salary numbers as well for the next couple years for a player who is one of the top at his position: http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/philadelphia ... an-mathis/

Not sure what we would have to give up but would love to see a deal like this made.

You beat me to this.

Mathis was PFF's 2nd ranked Guard last year. He sprained an MCL, but was on IR return. Kelly has made it known he has been available since last year. He is 33.

Don't know what it would take, and don't know if he's a scheme fit, but he's scheduled to make 5.5 mil this year and 6 mil next year. So basically what Carpenter got, for the 2nd best Guard in the league.

He's due $5.5M in 2015 and $6M in 2016.

I doubt that we could afford that.... and he's already 33 y/o.

Pass.

Seattle should give him a look after Philly cuts him.

North Dallas 40oz's post on the locked .NET forum --

"It's actually $5.5M for 2015 and $6M for 2016......which is an absolute steal for the best OG in the league not named Marshall Yanda. By comparison, James Carpenter just signed for an AAV of $4.8."

In full agreement!

Mathis and Wiz please.

I don't know if this is possible with the cap, but it sounds delightful

He's also been making some noise about wanting a new contract, so doubt he'd stay at 5.5/6

There will be several 30 something OLs available. If the Hawks are interested...

Yeah, I'm thinking the same.

Mathis is a name player. Probably more name than game at this point.

Seattle would be wise to wait a couple weeks, see what shakes out, and get some minimum vet depth that we can bring in to compete. Very 'meh' names when we add them I'm sure. Mathis, even if he does get cut, will probably get 4-5m a year. That's too rich for Seattle at this point.

Expect we'll go with a 1-2m roster casualty type.

Perhaps you might speculate as to the names of "vet:" OL that would be available for 1-2 m -- plse recall that the much-scorned Carpenter got 4.5 m.
