He was basically the last of the full time 2 way (offense and defense) players. He often played the entire 60 mins. of a game. A member of the Eagles 1960 championship team (the only playoff game Vince Lombardi ever lost and the last NFL championship the Eagles won) as well as their 1949 championship team.

Nicknamed "Concrete Charlie". I wasn't old enough to have ever seen him play (he retired in 1962) but his legend was very fresh in the mid-60s when I did start watching pro football. RIP Chuck,.

He was a great player and a WW2 vet."Rip Chuck".I love watching the you tube vid of him.The guy is intense and they show that hit on Frank Gifford which took him a year and half to come back from.I would encourage anyone to look at this guys YouTube vid,it's fun to watch.
