Spark Notes Version:

“For the reasons described in this Report, and after a comprehensive investigation, we have concluded that, in connection with the AFC Championship Game, it is more probable than not that New England Patriots personnel participated in violations of the Playing Rules and were involved in a deliberate effort to circumvent the rules,” Wells concluded. “In particular, we have concluded that it is more probable than not that Jim McNally [the Officials Locker Room attendant for the Patriots] and John Jastremski [an equipment assistant for the Patriots] participated in a deliberate effort to release air from Patriots game balls after the balls were examined by the referee.

“Based on the evidence, it also is our view that it is more probable than not that Tom Brady [the quarterback for the Patriots] was at least generally aware of the inappropriate activities of McNally and Jastremski involving the release of air from Patriots game balls.”

The text messages seem pretty damning as far as knowledge of the fact that it was going on is concerned. It won't happen, but Brady should see a suspension for his actions in this matter.

"The only thing deflating this Sunday.... is his passer rating."

Funniest NFL independent investigation ever.

More on why Brady should be suspended IMO...

Brady better have to serve a BIG damn suspension for this crap, based on what I'm seeing thus far in this report. "Complicit" is the best a die-hard Patriots fan could say about him with this.

Wow.

Wonder what will come of this? You'd have to think that with Spygate already out there, Goodell needs to make a big statement here that this kind of organizational cheating cannot be tolerated. Not sure what can happen beyond fines and removing draft picks though.

Let alone Kraft said after Spygate that he would not tolerate any sort of cheating, period.

Will Billy be fired? No. Will Terrific Tom be penalized? Doubtful. All bark and no bite Mr. Kraft.

It's just a pathetic situation.

Our scientific consultants informed us that the data alone did not provide a basis for them to determine with absolute certainty whether there was or was not tampering, as the analysis of such data is ultimately dependent upon assumptions and information that is uncertain. Based on the testing and analysis, however, Exponent concluded that, within the range of likely game conditions and circumstances studied, they could identify no set of credible environmental or physical factors that completely accounts for the Patriots halftime measurements or for the additional loss in air pressure exhibited by the Patriots game balls, as compared to the loss in air pressure exhibited by the Colts game balls. Dr. Marlow agreed with this conclusion. This absence of a credible scientific explanation for the Patriots halftime measurements tends to support a finding that human intervention may account for the additional loss of pressure exhibited by the Patriots balls.

Probably has things outside of football that he probably doesn't want to get out or get recovered after being deleted and get leaked.

Statement from Kraft. here's a bit that I find interesting compared to facts in the report.

“Throughout the process of this nearly four-month investigation, we have cooperated and patiently awaited its outcome. To say we are disappointed in its findings, which do not include any incontrovertible or hard evidence of deliberate deflation of footballs at the AFC Championship game, would be a gross understatement. In addition, given our level of cooperation throughout the process, I was offended by the comments made in the Wells Report in reference to not making an individual available for a follow-up interview. What the report fails to mention is that he had already been interviewed four times and we felt the fifth request for access was excessive for a part-time game day employee who has a full-time job with another employer.

He opens saying how they cooperated, yet he goes on to say that they didn't feel allowing access to the main perpetrator in this case for more questioning wasn't necessary. And of course they totally leave out how Brady refused to have his phone examined. Doesn't sound like cooperation to me.

I know if my bosses were investigating something, and I refused to cooperate, I wouldn't have a job. The same won't apply here for obvious reasons

More likely that he knows he was busted and wanted to keep plausible deniability. He could easily have gotten a confidentiality agreement signed with recourse spelled out if anything outside of the deflation investigation was to be released or leaked in any way.

The report spells out rather clearly that there were discussions with Brady about deflating the footballs. He was in the very least complicit in it, and the fact that he lied about that in his press conference and didn't cooperate with the investigation should be enough for the league to suspend him.

Just think what a deathblow this would be to the Patriots legacy if we ran the damn ball.

I'm not saying that's not true or likely cause it probably is true, but I still think his stuff outside of football could've easily had an influence as well. All the paperwork and legal stuff is nice in writing, but leaks and stuff still get out and if there was anything risking his home life (like with a lot of these athletes having side pieces, sexts/nudes, etc.), I wouldn't even risk it.
