In a YouTube video titled "Spring Break 2013 South Beach Brawl" and published March 25, 2013, Galette strikes a woman twice with a belt in the midst of a scuffle. The melee was recorded and posted by an onlooker.

An NFL source told NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune on Saturday that the league is aware of the video and Galette's involvement in the fracas. The Saints are aware of the situation. The NFL had no comment on the video. Galette's agent Alvin Keels did not respond to requests for comment.

The video opened with Galette, wearing a white shirt, white shorts, white shoes and sunglasses, fighting a man and then whipping him with a belt. As the fight broke up, Galette wildly swung his belt at onlookers.

At the 14-second mark of the clip a woman wearing a swimsuit top and green shorts approached Galette, who again swung his belt, striking her at least twice. A group charged Galette shortly after and he was escorted away.

Galette reappeared at the 1:18 mark of the video without sunglasses and shoved several people before throwing a punch as two others fought. The recording lasts 1:44.

The beach fight is the latest incident in a turbulent offseason for Galette.

Galette, 27, was arrested for simple battery involving domestic violence on Jan. 5 at his home in Kenner after a 22-year-old woman called police and alleged that Galette beat her.

He needs to be suspended immediately. NFL players need to learn to walk away from situations like this.

Why should he get suspended for something that happened in 2013? Now he does have to be held accountable for the DV incident in Jan 5th.

The video shows that he has a penchant for violence but not sure how something that cropped up from 2 yrs ago can be used for anything other than to help a prosecutor establish his behavior in the current case. I understand the desire to no longer reward folks who are of questionable character but I wonder how far back in the past should a team and the league go as they ferret out the horrible folks?

EDIT: Now if he can still be charged with Assault, then I understand the thought that he should be suspended or released without prejudice. To me the legal standard of whether an act is still chargeable applies to calls for his removal from the Saints.

The DV charge against Gallete was dropped by the Kenner, Louisiana city attorney.

The accuser told Kenner police at the time of Galette's arrest that an argument started that morning when she demanded cab money, that Galette pushed her twice, and that Galette and Banks "jumped" her while trying to get her to leave. She said her earring was ripped out of her ear during the struggle, which police noted upon arrival, along with scratches on her face. Both sides agreed that she then briefly grabbed a knife before being removed from the home and that Galette filmed that part of the incident with his phone.

Galette's attorney released a statement at the time saying the player did not commit any domestic violence or battery, that the earring was ripped out by Galette's dog and that four witnesses, including Galette's girlfriend, would corroborate his version of the events.

Greg Hardy got 27 games over a he said/she said with evidence and witnesses that supported Hardy, a case that was eventually thrown out.

Using a belt buckle should be considered Assault with a Deadly Weapon. And it's on video. And this isn't the guy's first black eye. He has to be done. DONE with a capital D.

The Panthers may have been screwed out of 10% of the cap in 2014 for falling on the grenade for the shield over Hardy, but at least they had the brains not to sign him to a long term deal. The Saints just signed this turd to a 4 year extension. Too bad.

I'd like to see the start also. It seems the person who gets the biggest punishment is the one who retaliated.

His attorney is saying it's not him in the video.

The craziest part was coming back to the melee after his girl had already pulled him away. Then he clocks a guy who was seemingly trying to breakup the fight.

Agreed. There were no charges filed, and the woman had said she briefly got a knife. He might've had the belt out because of a knife being around.

The 2nd one looks like he's breaking up a fight. Not sure how, with everyone being an idiot there, he should get punished. Because he's a football player ? Because he's famous ? Because he has more money than us ?

If the cops didn't bring a case, it's over as far as I'm concerned.

I'm all for it. Drafting 2 OLB's and signing Anthony Spencer was no coincidence.

Gallete being a captain represents one of the moments of the forgettable '14 season.

The guy has no business being in the league. The NFL should be ashamed for not doing something about it. I would feel the same if he was a Seahawk!

Wow, feel bad for the Saints. What a terrible off-season for them.

The Saints have made a big change to their defense just before the start of training camp.

According to multiple reports, the Saints have released linebacker Junior Galette. Galette signed a six-year deal with the team last September that has already paid him more than $17 million, but he’s gone after turning in 10 sacks in 16 games for the team last season.

Had to be done, his antics were quite annoying. Good pass rusher, but being a locker room cancer wore out his welcome. I suppose it was easier to release him since it's past June 1st. Cutting him prior to that date would've been impossible.

Junior....... Jerruh Jones is on line 1........ 8)

I know you hate the Cowboys. If they did sign him to go along with their other less than reputable players and won the Super Bowl this year... I couldn't imagine your hate for them then....

I've always hated them, especially since they use to abuse us when we shared a division (But not since)

Is my hate for the Cowboys that obvious??? 8)

I've never seen a team accomplish so little over the past 19 years (see only 2 playoff wins) and get such praise from the mediots each and every year during that time frame.
