Stories on his free agency:

"Thornton, 27, is 6'4, 309 pounds and would likely project as a run-stuffing defensive tackle with the potential for a little bonus as an interior pass rusher. He played in a two-gap 3-4 in Philly, so it's kind of tough to know how that transition would go."

"Per ESPN's Sheil Kapadia, who covered the Eagles for years,

His strength is as a run defender, and Thornton consistently plays with a high motor. He would likely compete for a starting job on the interior with the Seahawks"

"Steve Palazzolo ‎@PFF_Steve (Anybody know who tis guy is?)

With regard to role, production, and athleticism, there may not be a better comp in the draft than A'Shawn Robinson/Cedric Thornton

From the 2011 combine

STRENGTHS Thornton has a large frame and a quick first step. Possesses the range to make plays outside of the tackle box. Delivers an effective initial punch and has long arms to keep blockers at bay. Flashes a powerful bull rush and the burst to get after the quarterback.

HEIGHT: 6'3"

ARM LENGTH: 33 5/8"

WEIGHT: 309LBS.

HANDS: 10"

Cedric Thornton leads all 3-4 DEs with a run stop on 13.3% of his run defense snaps. 2nd JJ Watt (12.1%) & 3rd Ahtyba Rubin (11.8%)

I like this. Sounds like he is willing to bet on himself and sign a cheap prove it deal. Thornton could very well be this year Ahtyba Rubin.
