Teams that are surgical in free agency can use it to put them over the top. Seattle won a SB after building almost their entire DL in free agency. The Patriots won a SB after signing Revis and Browner. The Broncos won a SB after signing Talib, Ware, and Ward. (Notice a theme with these free agents?)

But teams that just sign 'big name' players to big money because they need to sell tickets, those teams tend to end up on a list such as this.

Win the off season and you lose during the regular season. Got it.
