He was recruited to play football at UW and was actually a walk on in basketball.

This is still a longshot. He's was a professional athlete for a long time and no doubt has a lot of wear.

Started 6 games as a freshman with 2 interceptions and 36 tackles before deciding to focus on basketball.

Made the Pac-10 all-frosh team. I think he would have been a pretty special football player.

Bob Groz Tom talk about it here:

With the Seahawks losing three key players yesterday, the guys give their thoughts on all the moves being made so far. Who is worth keeping and who will they regret losing? Despite his gruesome injury, Ricardo Lockette says it didn't change his opinion on safety in the NFL.

One of Seattle's favorites, Nate Robinson, says he wants to switch sports and start playing CB in the NFL. Is the transition from the NBA to NFL too big?

I thought he was a star in the making after his freshman year, I could never understand why he went to basketball. It's so weird to think that he's only 18 months older than Michael Bennett.

He wouldn't have any chance in Seattle but I hope someone gives him a shot and that he's successful. It would be fun.

I admire his determination but no one is going to want to invest in him at his age. Once one gets into the 30s,in football, only the best stay. Even when the best reach that age group they are usually signed on as a veteran for leadership and experience for a good price. Many times these older guys are greats chasing a ring. At best I could see him playing special teams which I wouldn't think he would be interested in.

At the time he cited the fact that he wasn't getting an offensive role in football under Neuheisel and hinted he would reconsider after a year. Then the program went in the tank, while Nate took off in Basketball.

Nate picked a bad time to enter the NFL as a CB, longer more press and speed is what is looked at now ( Thanks Pete) .

Not sure he would have made $23million in the NFL and he certainly took fewer hits. That would be one reason to go basketball. You make more money and body doesn't take the punishment

If anyone could do it, it would be NR..... Odds are severely long being 31
and not having played organized football in over a decade though.

Nate is a Phenomenal athlete. Been that way since we went to school together. If anyone can make it as a 31 year old NFL Rookie, it's him.

One of the baddest mofo's to ever walk the planet. Dude is pure swag. Would love him to get a shot here. Physically it makes no sense for Hawks...but culturally it does.

Could he be PR/KR insurance for Lockett? Or some other special teams specialist? I imagine he'd make a pretty good gunner on punts and kick offs.
