Yikes. Paired with Gronk, this could be lethal for Defenses.

Playing hindsight.. what would rather have right now.. Jimmy Graham or Martellus Bennett, Max Unger and whatever we would have got from the 31st pick?

An interesting take...

But getting traded to the Patriots won’t automatically make Bennett happy, unless they Patriots also planning to trade away Rob Gronkowski. For Bennett’s contract year, he now becomes the third option at best in the passing, and maybe even the fifth or sixth, given the presence of Gronkowski, receivers Julian Edelman, Danny Amendola, and Chris Hogan, and running back Dion Lewis.

I call shenanigans. He's going to be Aaron Hernandez, only killing people ON the field.

A healthy Graham. If it were a 31st overall pick this year, I'd say different.

Pete and John always overpay...Marshawn is the only exception.

No kidding. And it seems like the Pats always underpay. Didn't they get Randy Moss for a song? Unbelievable.

Well I am on record as asserting the Unger loss cost us a SB last year.

So clearly, if I could roll back the clock to undue the Graham deal - of course. Not a Graham hater, just not a Graham carer. He wasn't worth what he cost and we traded a strength away to get a new weakness.

And our offense got BETTER when Graham went down, so while some of that is not his fault - it isn't like we gained anything but a ginormous hole in our OL that we lost 2-3 games and likely Rawls because of. At least Wilson survived unscathed, so there is that.

Generally when a big FA deal is made by this FO, it working out tends to be the exception instead of the norm. They do a tremendous job on the draft/UDFA front however.

It should also be noted that guys are going to look better with Brees throwing to them anyway, so I think Bennett vs Graham in the near term would have been ridiculously better. Maybe they would have realized that jettisoning Unger was bitingly stupid and kept him in that instance.

Then again, it is pretty clear that the "they play checkers we play chess" statement made by some of the Pats is fact. Their FO is better than ours in FA moves by a long shot. Since they are better than everyone else, it isn't really anything we should feel bad about. We are better in the draft though.

Easily better and if we picked up Mathis our line would have been way above average. We could have had 3 probowlers on the left side, Sweezy and our best remaining lineman on the right side and an above average blocking TE. Our offense would have been unstoppable.

I get the excitement but it's a bit too rose colored glasses for me.

Our offense was supposed to be unstoppable when we got Harvin. It wasn't.

No offense is unstoppable.

As far as Mathis goes, and any player in FA really, is that the team needs to want the player and the player needs to want to play for us. We love the hawks because they're our team and can't fathom the idea that not every player wants to play for Seattle.
