I'm guessing this has never happened before, but we could see two divisions send three teams to the playoffs. That would be the NFC East and the AFC West. Decent chance the NFC East sends the Cowboys, Giants and Redskins to the playoffs. While the AFC West sends the Raiders, Broncos and Chiefs to the playoffs.

It did happen in 1981 when there were 6 divisions, 28 teams, and only 10 playoff spots. That year, the Miami Dolphins, New York Jets, and Buffalo Bills all made it from the AFC East, and the Dallas Cowboys, Philadelphia Eagles, and New York Giants all made it from the NFC East.

It also happened in 1993, 1999, and 2001, but there were 6 wild cards then instead of only 4.
