Shanahan can't sign papers till their season is done, everyone is running away from the 49ers, they can't secure their head coach and nobody wants to be a GM there or now some are saying the title being reduced to Director of Player Personnel, they are trying to line up interviews for assistants.

What if the Falcons win it or even lose and Shanahan decides that hmmmm NO I changed my mind.

Considering Shanahan already said he's excited for the opportunity, doubt this happens, but yeah it'd be wonderful.

Justice? For what. Ya I agree the Niners could be in a pickle if this happens but to say justice. Really.

Not a distraction he says... the NFL makes it that way he says...

Not relevant at all. No one said it was a distraction.

It's plenty relevant... and plenty obvious he's going to take the job.

Why I have no idea... as someone else said he'll be fired in 3 years.

What did your boy Pete Carroll say about Gus Bradley?

"He took the wrong job."

Same thing here. Stay with Atlanta another year and get your pick of jobs next season... but no... he'll take the worst job in the NFL and he sure as hell won't have Matt Ryan at QB.

Big mistake Kyle.

I honestly can't believe you're still in disbelief about Shanahan taking the 9ers job. Yeah, the ownership's recent track record is piss poor, but the chance to build your own legacy with one of the most "prestigious" or "accomplished" organizations in the entire league is waaaaay too big to pass up.

Take off the rose-tinted glasses and actually think about it. Kyle has been with you guys for two years, it hasn't been his life's work and it hasn't even been his longest stint with a team. To think that he should be SO DEDICATED to your Falcons and stop himself from taking the biggest promotion of his life is actually pretty laughable.

It's not really about dedication... it's more about taking the worst head coaching job available.

Gus Bradley took the job in Jacksonville... and it was quite similar. No QB... no roster... 4 years later he's out the door at 14-48.

That's all I'm saying.

Dan Quinn took the Falcons job 2 years ago with a QB and a somewhat decent roster... throw in a couple good drafts and FA signings and here we are on the doorsteps of the Super Bowl. The Falcons were never really in a rebuilding mode... we just had a bad 2013-2014 under Mike Smith before the change was made.

Sure he's got a chance to build his legacy with the 49ers franchise... and he's also got a chance to fall flat on his face coaching a team with no QB and horrible ownership.

We can revisit this thread in a few years assuming he takes the job... I'd bet we see a few more 2-14 and 3-13 seasons before the 49ers even sniff the playoffs.

P.S.

No rose-tinted glasses here either... I appreciate the job Shanahan has done in leading the Falcons offense to a record breaking season... and I'm still confident whoever is OC next season will have the team competitive. Let's not forget something though... he's previously been the OC of?

Texans
Redskins
Browns

He never got a head coaching opportunity until he took the Falcons job with a QB in place.... not the garbage QBs that those 3 teams have been running.

But now he's gonna perform miracles in SF with no QB?

Good luck Kyle. You went from babysitting Manziel to Matt Ryan... who's the QB in SF anyway? LOL

For what? How about DeBartolo being a corrupt POS? In an era where you could BUY your championships due to no salary cap (No surprise the 49ers started their fall from grace after it was implemented, look at the spending spree you guys went on the last year before it took effect. Deion Sanders on a ONE-YEAR deal, anybody?), ol' Eddie DeBartolo narrowly escaped prison for his business dealings. I'm sure you know about this, which is why it's kind of a dumb mistake on your part to ask me what you did in front of everybody, giving me an opportunity to publicly point out this information. God only knows what corrupt, illegal stuff he did for the 49ers that will never see the light of day.

Wouldn't it be even more funny if by some miracle Shanahan takes the job, trades the number 2 pick (and more) for Kirk Cousins, and Cousins convinces DeSean Jackson to sign? Suddenly Shanahan starts to look smart.

DeBartolo never almost went to prison. He was charged with failure to report extortion, and like many others who had failed to report being extorted by the Governor of LA, he was charged with failure to report as means of making him testify.

If he had been out bribing people and being charged with real crimes he wouldn't be in the Hall of Fame, man.

You forgot all about the 49ers in 2007-2010 doing absolute d**** and then Harbaugh arrived with the same "lack of QB" and started pumping out wins.

Everything is permanent in your viewpoint? Just like that 4-12 and 6-10 seasons you had after the Niners ended your #1 seeded season a few years back in your house, right?

Teams are meant to be garbage forever right?

Get off your high horse of your franchise, even if you do win the Super Bowl this year.

Yep I realize that... and Shanahan is no Harbaugh. As I've already said, what has he done as an OC prior to Atlanta? Not a whole lot.

There is no high horse here... I'm not gonna lose sleep when he leaves. All I'm saying is there are better jobs out there... but now they are all gone.

So now he's gonna take the only one left rather than stick around another year and have his choice of jobs next year.

... and why you gotta bring up a playoff game from 2012 that nobody cares about? We were up 17-0 and the D blew it... oh well... and before you say "Matt Ryan is 1-4 in the playoffs" (now 2-4) lets not forget he threw for 400 yards and 3 TDs in that game.

Our garbage D cost us that game...although Ryan did miss a wide open Gonzalez on that last drive in the red zone that would have won it.

Grats though... you won and then lost the Super Bowl 2 weeks later.

Quit hating bro. I honestly could give a rats ass if Shanahan leaves... the only point I've tried to make in this thread is he might want to consider sticking around for a better opportunity next year... not because I have this fear that the Falcons offense is going to fall apart without him.

P.S. Dan Quinn is 1000 times the coach Mike Smith was. Smith cost us games and the Super Bowl opportunity in 2012 even though that team was a fraud and got exposed in the playoffs... much like Dallas this year.

Hilarious.

Jealousy is real.

Paul Allen will make some sort of Silicon Valley industry type hall of fame before he ever sniffs Canton.

BTW just like Roland, I too could just google for negativity and find links that stick to some extent:

http://www.businessinsider.com/why-im-s ... len-2009-6

And here's Paul Allen getting screwed by good ole Bill Gates just like Eddie and that Louisiana Governor, but we'll just make it all Paul's fault just because:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article ... ancer.html

And let's just take an article written about Allen's reclusiveness and make it negative because we don't like the team he owns:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article ... hadow.html

See how stupid this all looks Roland?

You think the success and life of billionaires is 100.0% free of any transgressions?

C'mon man.

He paid $400k under the table for a casino gambling license and got caught when the governor in Louisiana was nailed, I doubt he batted an eye at the request for funds. "Part of the biz, shrug." Believe what you will, it's expected that you'd believe the best of the guy that bought your team five rings.
