Jets release Nick Mangold, Center

Nick Mangold, center, has been released by the Jets.

He's a 7 time Pro Bowler and an All-Pro Center. I wouldn't mind if the Seahawks were to kick tires on him and move Britt back to tackle. He's a solid center and Britt would be an upgrade over Fant or Gilliam.

I would leave Britt where he is and take a flier on Okung before signing him.

Kick the tires on his sister too! She played center in high school.

Britt did an admirable job at center. I agree. However, the Seahawks lack decent players at the tackle spots. Mangold is an All-Pro center. Britt would be an instant upgrade over the current players at tackle. Plus LT is generally paid higher than centers. Not saying it would happen, but if the Seahawks chose that route it wouldn't be all that odd either. Since when have the Seahawks shown any loyalty to Olineman? They shift them all the time.

IIRC, Britt started on the outside. Moving him to center was almost a desperation move, because he was on his way out before that. He's good, he's young, he's durable.

I think Britt is (is going to be) a stud at Center. The one position I don't think we need to address on the OL lol

After 11 seasons, I'd be surprised if the tires aren't flat.
