Thats a true legend of the game..Hard to believe that he was a 5th round pick ..Took some of the most brutal hits I have ever seen and never whined about it either..Thanks for sharing Sgal

Much as I hate the 49ers and a large portion of their legion of (mostly) idiot bandwagon fans, it's hard to not like Joe Cool. The dude is a class act. I'd want a picture with him if I met him.

Actually, he was a third rounder. Worst part about it is, the Hawks owned the pick (3rd round, 26th pick, #82 overall in 1979) and dealt it to San Francisco.

I mean this in a light hearted way, but that photo looks like a couple who went to prom platonically and wanted every one to know they were there platonically.

It does look like there is a specific no touching clause. I cant work out if it's to protect Joe or if it's because he can be a bit "handsy".

Even worse is that the Seahawks were rumored to be interested in interviewing Bill Walsh, but Paul Brown had lied to them. Montana was Walsh's pick...so the 80's/90's could have been *this close* to looking entirely different in our favor. I loved Chuck Knox/Krieg...but they weren't Walsh/Montana.

Yeah, Paul Brown spent most of the 70's torpedoing Bill Walsh's career, from what I heard. Dick move.

Correct.

SF probably lucked out on Walsh because he was at Stanford.
