Wow this is interesting

Signed a new deal this year, played all games. I am not sure when he was injured but is now CUT by GB under a "Failure to Disclose Physical Condition" designation

So guessing that will be a major contract violation and they are going to try to recoup money and he will claim that it is a lie to save money

In the end I just hope it means we can get him to play with his brother cheap next year and let Graham go (still belongs in NFL forum though :) )

The Packers cut Bennett with the failure to disclose a medical condition designation. We'll see what's next for the veteran TE.

:hmmmm:

He'd said earlier this year that this was his last season, so I wouldn't be surprised if this is the end of the line for him.

Keep him away from the Rams please...

Luckily, the Rams are WAY down the waiver wire, so they have very little chance of getting him. If he wants to continue to play, someone would likely pick him up long before he falls far enough to get to the Rams. The question now becomes does he want to continue to play, and will the Packers try to recoup some of his signing bonus?

Who's gonna want that contract? Seems he'll clear waivers, but I'm usually wrong on who'll clear and who won't. :?

If he clears, hopefully him and Maxwell come in for a workout....

His base salary for this season is $900k. Most of his pay this year was in the form of bonuses which are on the Packer cap. Anyone who claims him is only responsible for the remainder of the $900k which is less than half. His final 2 years only pay out if the team keeps him. They can let him go at the end of the season with zero dead money

Oh shiiiiiit, didn't know that. Yeah, he'll probably be gone before the Seahawks have the chance, unless his shoulder injury is severe or he requests to play with his bro....

Looks like Patriots knew about it and let him walk.

Smart organization right there.

Mentally, Bennett has never really been around all year. Once Rodgers got hurt, he started discussing retirement, missing practices and coming up with injuries that seemed to be a little curious. He signed a 3 year contract and less than 10 months in, he is retiring?

He was good in the run game for blocking but he didn't seem happy in that role, yet when we threw him the ball, he dropped the passes. Half hearted route running, taking plays off, etc, etc, etc.

Bennett might find another team, but he was definitely never really a Packer. What a huge disappointment, considering we let Cook escape to Oakland.

If Seattle wants a guy who can run block and they can turn his attitude around, he might be a good addition to your offense. Is he worth the risk though? I say no.

Also, Green Bay management is going after him to recover a portion of the money we paid him. Mostly, signing bonus. The Front Office is pretty angry over this.

Perhaps he wants to pull a "Lynch." Retire for a bit, unretire and hire on with a new team.

No need now, unless he gets claimed by a team he doesn't want to play for. Will be interesting to see what happens if he gets claimed.

Belichick out there playing 4D chess. Got Martellus back for pennies. His injury might magically heal.

Seahawks may have been interested but they don't have the money to sign him so now he's a Patriot.

We actually have the room if we had the need. He only counts about 400k against the cap this year. He can be cut at the end of the year with no cap implications. I think they are satisfied with the combination we have now. It's a great story to have the brothers playing together, but it's probably not the best thing for the team
