  • Good OC, terrible head coach. I don't know how they justified keeping him in the first place.

  • Wow. A bit surprised . . . not so much that he was fired but that it didn't happen after the season. Wonder if they replace him with Todd Haley. That would be funny.

It's Al Saunders. Whoever that is. Some sort of offensive assistant.

  • Has no business being a HC. Solid OC, used to be good at developing QB's but couldn't figure it out with any of his guys in Cleveland.

They've been competitive in most games this year, 4 OT's is wild. Wonder if they take a look at OU's coach.

Wow, an offensive assistant but not Haley? That seems interesting.

  • The Browns haven't had a coach with a winning record in 30 years. Three of them did get a winning season, but of course crapped the bed the other seasons.

Just contract the team, have a Browns player draft so the other teams can pick the leftovers, and figure out how to schedule it with 31 teams. This Browns thing is not working.

  • Typical lousy team symptom: FIRE someone without a replacement in place.

The same goes for "Fire Pete brigade", name a replacement before chanting fire Pete.

  • Wow, no one will let a coach break Dave Shula's record of fastest to 50 losses. First Gus Bradley, now Hue Jackson.

So you would have kept Jackson? They stuck with him through historically bad seasons, in three seasons the Browns have three wins. In fact, Hue Jackson is actually one of the worst head coaches to ever coach the game: https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2 ... l-history/

In two a two year span the Browns won a total of 1 game, and this season they have thrown winnable games, in great part due to poor coaching. So, you're telling me that the Browns actually have something to lose here by firing a historically bad coach? Please.

Fire Hue, why not? But fire Hue with no replacement ready? why now?

Well, there could be numerous reasons for that. The first of which is, what do you get by keeping Hue? Absolutely nothing. He offers nothing to the betterment of the team, he doesn't even offer stability at this point. With Hue Jackson there was in-fighting between staff members, and there are reports that he lost the locker room. It was a toxic mess, that is why he is gone. There is no reason to keep him on the team.

Hiring an interim coach lets you do several things. First of all it lets you have a season long interview process. The season is already sunk, why not see if anyone on the staff has the chops to be head coach? It also is a band-aid of sorts. There was a ton of toxicity and issues on the team this season. Perhaps he can at least get the team trended in the right direction and aid in the development of the player. There are a lot of reasons why this fire was justified, even in within the regular season.
