If he comes back healthy it’s a good signing. He’s younger than Reuben Foster. If he doesn’t it’s wasted money. It’s an overpay, but that’s what you do with the first wave of free agents. Unlike Foster, however, he can intercept the ball.

... and also doesn’t beat his girlfriend.

That we know of... ;)

Kidding aside, I'm pretty shocked at that contract. That just seems waaay too high for a guy that's only had 1 stand out year in his 4 years in the league and is coming off a torn ACL.

Highest paid non-pass-rushing linebacker in NFL history? Ouch.

Highest paid this, highest paid that. Paid paid paid. All about the money. The numbers are getting ridiculous.

Did you see Mosely’s contract? And this is already after they got Barr. Wow.

I should have known to hold off until the first wave was finished. Rookie move on my part.

As for Mosley, he is a pretty good blitzing middle linebacker, but still 17 million per? But the cap is going up and in the next two to three years the NFL will be able to add their gambling revenue, so all of these numbers are going to go up.

Looks like Barr changed his mind and stayed at the Vikes.

Probably good for the Jets. Barr is not really an edge rusher, and after the Mosely investment Barr would be a luxury.

Another good data point on why it's good to wait for details to come out.

Alexander's deal is essentially the same structure as McKinnon's deal and Garoppolo's deals was last year: it's a 1 year deal (for Alexander worth 14.5 million) followed by three years of team options at the same rate if they want them.

The pattern with the 9ers (and really with Paraag Marathe) is that they "pay" for flexibility. It makes sense when you have a lot of cap room, which they do. Basically, you pay someone more than they're worth (and particularly in the first year) in exchange for not having any meaningful guaranteed money after the first year in case you decide that you want to change your mind.

When (and if) they ever reach a point where they're up against the cap, it will be interesting to see if their strategy changes.

I thought Kwon might be a bargain 2nd/3rd wave of free agency guy, and a potential rotational pass rusher.

That's a lot of money.

The guy can't tackle. He has the most missed tackles in the league since he was drafted.
