Report: Texans tried trading Jadeveon Clowney to Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs ultimately landed Frank Clark in a trade with Seattle, but the Houston Texans reportedly tried to trade Jadeveon Clowney to them before that took place.

On Thursday ahead of the draft, Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports noted that Clowney could be on the same path that Dee Ford and Clark were. He noted that the Texans put out trade feelers about Clowney even during the Clark deal.

Following up on that, Yahoo Sports' Terez A. Paylor noted that Houston actually had reached out to Kansas City even before that, but the Chiefs were locked in on Clark.

BUT when it came to playing NFL football he did not have the same kind of impact that Clark had. He never had more then 9 sacks and he played opposite JJ Watt.

Clark is a better pass rusher. Clowney is significantly better all around football player, and it's not close. The NFL values health and pass rushing, and Clowney hasn't proven he can stay healthy which is why his value is similar to Clark.
