"Following more than ten months of intensive and thorough negotiations the NFL Players and clubs have jointly developed a comprehensive set of new and revised terms that will transform the future of the game, provide for players -- past, present, and future -- both on and off the field, and ensure that the NFL's second century is even better and more exciting for the fans," the league said in a statement.

Wildcard games are already pretty cheap accomplishments.

Going to see how ridiculous it is going to get with even more teams that have no business playing in them, make the playoffs.


I already don't consider wildcard games to be valid playoff games.

They have to add extra slots for the London and Toronto and Mexico teams,

This is nothing more than a way to get more (mediocre) legacy teams in the playoffs (see Pissburgh and *allas).

I've dug into it a little bit, and totally understand why the players don't like it (Sherm, Watt, Okung, Lockett that I've seen so far).

Probably the injury protection of 100 percent salary up to 2 mil. A lot of the players are not making 2 mil in salary. Their own greed is more than that.

..."That works out to about $59,000 per player, with the lowest-paid players getting more than that (minimum salary players would get a raise of at least $90,000) and the higher-paid players getting less of a raise."

Rookie minimum is $450K. That's a 20 percent increase.

Vet minimum depends on number of years; past year 5 that number doubles to about 900K. These players will be getting less of a percentage. Florio doesn't say how much less, but he approximates the average raise across all NFL players to be $59K per person. That'd represent a 6.5 percent raise for said vets.

With every year in the NFL, your chances of getting hurt over time increases as does the perception of decreased value when you do. Okung, Lockett, Watt, Sherm and anyone who reaches their level of time know they've all got limited time, and are disinterested in risking their health for yet one more potentially career-ending injury opportunity for what in some cases is a 1 or 2 percent raise.

I cannot blame them.

17 games, no lifetime medical coverage, gameday healthy scratches, revenue split, Roger still having final say on discipline.

I'm kind of with the players. I don't want 17 games, more international games, or changes to the playoffs. These changes really only benefit the owners.

Seriously, under the new proposal, teams that are barely .500 would be making the playoffs. Is that really what people want? Is anyone bummed that they didn't get Duck Hodges and the 8-8 Steelers vs the Chiefs? The product on the field is bad enough as it is; why on earth do they want to water it down even more.

That number for players with no experience starts at $610,000 in 2020, and climbs steadily until it hits $1.02 million in 2029 and $1.065 million in 2030.

The minimum in 2020 for players with seven years or more in the league is $1.05 million. For players with four to six years in the league, the million-dollar threshold hits in 2022.

10 million dollar increase on the cap this year.

I'm just glad they avoided any labor disputes again. Don't want any lockouts or strikes, especially with the hit teams are taking already because of the coronavirus.

Yes but adding 4 new players to practice squad and 2 more to roster will eat up a large portion of that.
