Did anyone read this and wonder why the Hawks didn't sign him?

He suffered a heart attack at USC, left the team, and played in CFL last year. He is medically cleared to play too.

This is an outstanding acquisition. Adam Schefter wrote about him deciding on an NFL team a few weeks back and said he is comparible to a high round draft pick. He has been compared position wide to Richard Seymour and can play the 3 technique.

Great addition to the D line."

He also was guaranteed $600,000 as well... May be why the Hawks didn't get him. Also he was an ALL STAR in the CFL. His job here IMO be a lot easier than most other places especially since he is playing next to Big Vince Wilfolk. My hope is he makes it VERY hard for other teams to double Wilfolk.

IF a big IF he ends up being Seymour 2.0.. then watch out NFL as the Pats D just got legit FAST....

Yes he was talked about here before this signing. Not sure if Pete didn't love him / he didn't love Pete or we just weren't willing to step up and put that money on paper......

Maybe it was Bellicheck's personality that won him over :)

Pete wants young, long term players, not quick fix signings with heart issues. Can you imagine what that would do to a young teams aggressiveness if the guy next to him starts having heart palpitations?
