Sure, the chances of it being rescheduled are pretty slim, but why did they put themselves in a position to even have to consider it. Was Goodell the idiot who ultimately signed off on the choice of NY for the SB?

NFL could reschedule Super Bowl XLVIII if weather becomes issue

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP)

The NFL could reschedule Super Bowl XLVIII if weather becomes issue, Frank Supovitz, Senior Vice President of Events for the NFL, said Wednesday.

“There are contingency plans for multiple different days,” Supovitz told the New York Daily News. “There is the potential of a move-up scenario, there is the potential of a move-back scenario, depending on what we are seeing coming. It could potentially be on a Saturday or it could be on the Monday or Tuesday. There is also a scenario where we could play the following weekend, a scenario that is incredibly unlikely. You’re dealing with progressively infinitesimal possibilities.”

Officials held the press conference to assure the public that snow or ice will not hinder the game on Feb. 2 at MetLife Stadium, when it will debut as the first outdoor, cold-weather Super Bowl in NFL history.

“Our plan is to kick the ball off on Sunday, Feb. 2," Supovitz told the paper. "The contingency is literally just that. If we are seeing something that will cripple the region, then we have to make a decision based on the intelligence we have at the time. How late we do that is going to be as late as possible so that we can potentially hold the game on Sunday. If it needs to be rescheduled, there are some logistical and operational considerations and also the communication to make people aware when the game is going to be.”

The stadium has several snow melters on hand that can clear the fields quickly, including one machine that can melt up to 600 tons of snow per hour, said the stadium's CEO, Brad Mayne. Removable snow chutes can funnel snow out of the seating and concourse areas, he said.

"As you can imagine, Mother Nature and her storms come in many different varieties," Mayne said. "And so we have to be flexible in how we address each and every storm."

Let's say a person gets the chance of a lifetime and gets to go to a Super Bowl. First you'd have to pay for that overprices ticket, then you get to pay 51.00 to get to the stadium, once you get there you can't tailgate with your friends, you finally get to your seat where you get to freeze your ass off and if that wasn't bad enough, the half time show is Bruno Mars. Really!!

You'd think Rog would have factored in the weather when he awarded his favorite team the SuperBowl in NYC. Guess he isn't the genius some think he is.

You think they would reschedule with all that advertising revenue at stake to put on the Wizard of Oz or Heidi in it's place and then compete with the Olympics?

Dream on, they will enjoy the ratings because of the snow and weather and since when did Safety matter with the NFL? Also since you have to take a shuttle or be a VIP to get to that particular game anyway the venue will be "SAFE". The surrounding areas will benefit from extra layovers for flights cancelled etc.

Or simply arrive a day or so early, again the benefit goes to the surrounding areas.

Well it could come down to it. If a team that is not used to the cold that plays in hot weather or in a dome. That could be really a disadvantage to that team.

They also said that every single superbowl has backup plans like this.

So while this is getting overblown I do seriously hope for the storm of the century
