Why is it easier to go back to back in the NBA?

You see teams like the Chicago Bulls, LA Lakers, Miami Heat go back to back NBA Finals and win it all. Even losers of previous NBA Finals such as the San Antonio Spurs go back the next year and win it. Is it because of the less physicality compared to the NFL? Do they have a different FA market/cap space?

you only need like 7 players, and really just a core of 3-4. so much easier to put that type of core together than something bigger.

the NFL is the ultimate "team" game

You play 7 games... Simple as that, if you are the most talented team chances are you can make the necessary adjustments to win in 7.

I would say the single game elimination element of the NFL postseason is the primary reason. With how physical football is compared to the NBA, you can't have an 82 game season or 7-game series in each round of the postseason. So mistakes are magnified.

Jordan, Bird, Olajuwon, Bryant, Shaq, James, Magic, etc. With 5 players on the court, having the best player in the NBA means much more than in any other sport.
