IMHO, the only way an arena will get built is if it is an NHL first arena.

Stern JR doesn't want to even think about an NBA team to Seattle until a new arena exists.

The NBA is dead to me, so an NHL first arena is fine with me! 8)

The NBA has been dead to me too and yeah if all we get is NHL then I'm happy with it.At least they have shown they want to be in Seattle. The NBA just uses us as some threat to pull another Sonics on someone.

That name is kinda taken already

I love the Tbirds colors and logos. I really hope if we get an NHL team, they
stick with our blue and green color scheme, and use American Indian art
as a guide for the logos.

If we do get an NHL team, what do you think will happen to the Tbirds?

Nothing will happen to the TBirds.
WHL isn't a farm club for A specific team.

I would say keep with the themed Seattle colors of blue green gray, Metropolitans is WAY old school, or we could bring back the Totems.
Totems makes the most sense. It was the team name before the Breakers.

I guess in terms of the Tbirds, I didn't even think about the "farm team" aspect, so
much as attendance. I had friends in Phoenix who were huge Roadrunners fans,
but after 10 years of dwindling attendance after the Coyotes arrived, the Roadrunners
went belly up. Sadly, for the past 5+ years, those same friends have really
been missing their Roadrunners.

I say all that to say, is it likely that Seattle hockey fans will continue to support
the Tbirds at the same level? Is it possible an NHL presence in the area could
actually be GOOD for the Tbirds?

No idea why this hasn't been the idea from the get go. The NHL .. WANTS to be here. Not only that but it will be very successful when it does happen. Hockey would be big here.

We'll see, Bellevue wants an arena, but they don't wanna help pay, can't blame 'em but you know.

Its just hard to get excited about anything when it comes to arena stuff anymore.

Well the arrogance is the issue, if the two cities would work together this could be a done deal, Bellevue wanst to one up Chris Hansen who already did a lot of the investing, legwork and made the connections. Now Bellevue wants to wedge their way into the situation creating a competeing situation that is going to put both cities against each other and drive cost and other things up. DUMB.

I'm with you here. But man, I want the NHL in Seattle so badly!

One thing the NHL has done very poorly though the years is promote TO the PNW thru existing teams. Vancouver is 2 hours to the North of here, and as long as they've been a team I've never seen them televised on a regular basis down here. They've missed out on a huge cluster of potential fans IMHO.

Shoot, when I was a kid, we got Portland rastlin' out of some old crusty smoke filled 3/4ths empty area, but rarely any Vancouver Canucks hockey.
