  • May 2nd. About 5 years to late but will still be entertaining. I got mayweather kicking his ass.

  • Happening too soon for me. Would rather see them hold off until like August. Wanted this fight 5 years ago. Not sure if I care anymore. Pacquiao is well past his prime now. Even if he does win, Mayweather will still claim to be the best ever pound-for-pound fighter, and hell, he might be right. Pac's speed is gone. His guile and intelligence are still there, and he can still hit with power, but I just think the reach advantage that Money has here, in addition to money's very unorthodox style will prove too much for the little Filipino politician.

  • I don't reckon this fight will be any different than all the other “past their prime”
    fighters that FM hand picks.

Sadly, we live in a world where "good business" is considered more important than honor or heart. FM is
definitely a good businessman. This fight is YEARS too late. Just get it over with!

A lot of this fight will depend on the ref, too. I hope for MP's sake it's not Joe Cortez.

No matter what, this is Lewis/Tyson '02, Redux. If FM had any decency at all,
this fight would be against Khan.

[BTW, I don't think FM invented the career of the "smart businessman" fighter
by any stretch. Sugar Ray Robinson surely laid the blueprint. 'Not saying SR wasn't
a great fighter, but he was a stone cold businessman, and admitted it openly.]

Do I think it's LIKELY? No. Do I think it's POSSIBLE? Yes.

So much remains to be seen-- will Money actually fight? We KNOW Manny will.
But FM could try to turn it into a snoozefest and that's why I said I hope the ref
is not Joe Cortez, because Cortez would allow that. It's a risk for FM to go that
route though, because he could end up with MP winning on points.

Money's mouthing off now about Ariza being in his camp. Well, Cotto's
in Pacman's camp. We shall see.

If that's true then I'm not watching. $80 for two past-their-prime fighters in what is essentially a money-grab exhibition bout. No thanks.

  • I just heard that Mayweather's gonna get something like 100 million, that's insane.

No way I'm paying $80-$100 for this fight. What fight this hyped for this many years has ever lived up to the hype? I'm absolutely rooting for Pacquiao, cause Mayweather's a jackass.........but I will be rooting sans pay per view.

This. FM blue print and game plan is always the same. Jab and move and play defense. His fights are almost always the same and the boxing and FM fans buy into his hype (which he's good at). He never wants to tangle with any one which frustrates the fighter and those watching. I expect the same boring fight from him and a decision win over MP even though I can't stand him. It bums me out that MPs chance of KO'ing him has long since passed about 5 years ago. Probably the reason FM has avoided him all this time. This fight will be a big let down for everyone who isn't a FM fan.

Boxing doesn't have to compete with MMA. Just sit back and watch MMA fade into the distance.

  • Go Money.

Best value I found was 16/1 Mayweather winning by ko/tko. Not that he's a knockout specialist by any stretch, but he is significantly better than his opponent so I think there is the possibility for him to end it early.

If I believed at all that karma was a real and quantifiable thing I'd have Mayweather losing because he is a rotten person with a history of domestic violence. But my eyes and wallet are telling me Floyd.

Best value is Mayweather by decision.

  • Manny has to stay incredibly busy, like the old days. If he does that, Floyd is too methodical to keep up. If Manny lets Floyd set the pace and play his counter game, Manny is going to be eating straights all night. I think the styles strongly favor Pacquiao, but Mayweather is a much smarter boxer. Manny has to try to turn it into a brawl, Floyd has to keep it on the tracks. Whoever is able to dictate the pace wins this fight. IF Manny still has the handspeed and stamina to throw in flurries for a full fight, I don't think this fight can go the distance.

Here's the problem though, and it's the MAIN problem with boxing.............there's no unified boxing commission or federation to make sure everything's on the up and up.

The only way Mayweather agreed to fight in the first place is because he's basically dictating every aspect of the fight. He get's the most money, he got to pick the ref, he dictated the terms of the drug testing. Mayweather wanted Kenny Bayless to ref because he's one of the most hands on refs out there that doesn't allow the boxers to go at each other too hard, he'll break it up..................which plays right into Mayweather's boring ass methodical dance around never getting into a brawl using his reach to just jab and score points.

Mayweather's a piece of crap, so I'm hoping to hell Pacquiao knocks him the F out. But that's not what I think will happen, I think Mayweather's gonna take it the length and win on points..............of course setting up a rematch in a year for even more money.

True, or a VERY controversial win by decision out of either fighter.

The rematch would be even more hyped if either fighter had public sympathy due to some perceived bad decision.

  • LAS VEGAS — Like you needed another excuse to watch what many are dubbing “The Fight of the Century.”

According to the SportingNews.com, Floyd Mayweather recently levied a complaint over the size of Manny Pacquiao’s protective cup.

    That’s right. His protective cup.

Mayweather was allegedly worried that Pacquiao’s cup is too big and sits too high, SportingNews reports, leading him to complain to the Nevada State Athletic Commission. The commission investigated Pacquiao’s cup, and the commissioner marked and signed the piece to make sure it’s the one Pacquiao’s wearing on fight night.

It's the event of it all, I don't think 90% of the people who ordered or are going to a bar, casino, etc care about boxing. They just want an excuse to party.
