If a pitcher walks several batters but is able somehow find a way to get out of the innings with out a hit against him, that is still considered a no-hitter? How about he loads the bases up and walks in a run, still a no-hitter? No one has hit on him yet. If you look at a no-hitter from that angle, it's really not that great of accomplishment. Technically someone could walk a bunch of players and still not allow hit. Getting 27 outs without the walks....yeah that's a real no-hitter but that's called a "perfect" game.

a no-hitter is exactly what it sounds like... no hits. Randy Johnson had 6 walks in his no-hitter, if I remember correctly. 5 pitchers have lost the game they threw a no-hitter in. (three left after 8 innings while being down in the game).

A perfect game is getting all 27 batters out in a row without a hit/walk/error (good catch ZtoL). For example, if a hitter gets a base hit but is thrown out at 2nd trying to stretch it to a double than it counts as a hit and the perfect game is over.

It's still a no hitter.

Still rare.

Yes, a perfect game is REALLY rare.

I used to pitch, it's still very hard to get a no hitter.
I was a great lefty, and the best I ever did was a one hitter (6 inning in Little League)

Don't forget errors........ you don't get a perfect game if there is an error/s. Nobody can reach base at all.

A No hitter is something to celebrate, no matter how many walks in the game happen.

Baseball riddle for ya. A pitcher throws a perfect game, yet nobody's average on the other team goes up or down. How is this possible?

The way you asked the question the answer would be no one since it is impossible to pitch a perfect game and lose.

There was a pitcher named Harvey Haddix who threw 12 perfect innings but his team didn't give him any runs and he ended up losing the perfect game in the 13th.

That's the guy and after a change of the definition of no-hitters and perfect games in 1991 by MLB, he no longer is credited with a perfect game so you are correct. None the less, to me that's bullshit.
BTW, the game in question was in 1959 and he was pitching for the Pirates against the Milwaukee Braves.

The best baseball trivia question is, How many batters can a pitcher strikeout in ONE inning?

Unlimited since if the catcher doesn't catch the 3rd strike and the hitter gets to 1st base, no out is recorded.

The hitter is automatically out if first base is occupied with less than 2 outs.
