  • I'm pretty pumped for MLB playoffs. There is something about baseball playoffs that separates itself from the other postseason sports.

The AL seems wide open to me. If the Indians had Salazar and Carrasco I'd probably pick them to make the World Series, but I don't see how you can get by without two of your top pitchers. Honestly, none of the teams in the AL are dominant. They're all pretty close to each other, as shown by their records. The difference between the top team and the wild card is just a few wins. Baltimore I don't give much of a chance because of their starting pitcher. Blue Jays I could see making a run, especially if Stroman shows up in the postseason like he did last year.

I have a hard time seeing the Cubs not coming out of the NL. They're just too good. Their rotation is ridiculous, curious to see how they go about it. Hendricks should be the #1 right? Who is #2 and #3? Who gets left out? Hammel or Lackey? I feel like Washington will choke like they always do, but Dodgers are known chokers in the postseason as well. Curious to see how Kershaw does in the playoffs. Sherzer vs Kershaw in game 1 might feature the two best pitchers in the game. I know a lot of people expect the Giants to make a run, but I just don't think they're very good. There is a reason why they completely fell apart in the second half of the season.

So long as Texas doesn't win the whole damn thing.

  • I think I'm with you there Hawker. I definitely have the Cubs making the World Series, and I think Boston probably has the most talent in the AL. David Ortiz going out on top with a WS ring would be fitting I guess.

Buck Showalter is taking a lot of heat for going with Ubaldo and not even using Britton. I just don't understand how you can be in a one-game playoff and not use Britton, arguably the best pitcher in all of baseball. Showalter is a great manager, but he really screwed up.

  • Watching Familia implode last night gave me flashbacks to Rodney. He is just wild and erratic everytime he comes in the game.

As good as the Cubs are, they can't feel great about facing the Giants. Cubs are the better team, but the Giants have been here before. I still think Cubs get past them, but it should be a good series.

  • Montgomery gives up the game winner in the 13th inning. He actually pitched pretty well, he had to pitch four innings because the bullpen was running thin.

This was probably the best playoff game so far.

  • Very surprised the Sox got swept. Indians are a good team but sorta figured Boston would take this series in 4-5 games. That's what great pitching in October can do for you though.

Blue Jays look good, at this point I'm seeing them play the Cubs in the WS.

Indians were the more complete team. I think people automatically wrote off the Indians, because of the Salazar and Carrasco injuries. Indians are great defensively, probably have the best bullpen, and have a great manager. Hard to say if they can get by with mediocre starting pitching after Kluber, but the pen does make up for their weak starting pitching. The ALCS should be good that's all I know. Boston definitely had flaws, particularly their starting pitching. Price has always been awful in the postseason, and no one is scared of the guys behind him in that rotation.

  • Anyone else rooting for the Dodgers to knock out the Nationals? I'm rooting for a Cleveland-Chicago series, but I want Washington out. I don't hate the Nationals, but the thought of the Mariners being the only team in the MLB to never even appear in a World Series is vomit inducing.

  • I don't really like either of these teams. I got small chunk of money on the Nats so I'm rooting for them. Both of these teams are chokers in the postseason. I'm waiting for a big choke job late in the game. So far Sherzer has looked great, did a good job of getting out of that bases loaded jam.

I feel like the Cubs can beat either of these teams. The Cubs are just too good.

  • I think it's funny that the second longest Major League streak without winning a World Series, which is currently held by Cleveland, is still 3 years shorter than the Cubs streak without a Pennant. Indians last WS Title: 1948. Cubs last NL Championship: 1945. To say nothing of a 108 year World Series drought.

Big game for the rookie tomorrow, this should be a good series. I think Toronto can take another game, but they aren't winning four in a row.

The odds are not good if you look at past results but based on the coming pitching match-ups and the Jays bats wake-up long overdue, I would give it 50-50 odds that Toronto moves on in 7 games.

  • It's good to see the Indians back in the Series. They lost such a heartbreaking game 7 in extra innings in '97 to the Marlins. Maybe they'll finally break their club's 68 year drought.

Cubs are back in it and a pivotal game 5 tomorrow-especially for the Dodgers. Kershaw reported to start game 6 in Chicago.

I have much more anger for the Yankees knocking us out in 2000 and 2001. They've won their share. At least Cleveland has suffered. 68 years is a long time.

The Dodgers' bullpen struggled badly in game 5 and may indeed be the difference maker in this series. But with Kershaw going game 6 and Rich Hill game 7 if they get there, the Dodgers still have a shot.

Roberts may have Kershaw and Hill go all 9 if they can. They've both combined for 13 scoreless innings against the Cubs this series. Will be a very interesting game 6 at least.

  • Series isn't over quite yet, but the Dodgers really blew their chance. They'll need Kershaw to save them in game 6. In the end, I think Dave Roberts did the right thing by pushing Kershaw back to game 6, rather than starting him game 5. I just think that is this does go 7, it sets up better for the Cubs as they'll go with Lester. Dodgers weakness all year has been hitting against LHP.

Indians and Cubs World Series would be pretty good.
