  • Boomstick goes yard, and Félix is pitching great so far and is pitching “backwards”.

The old notion that “you have to establish the fastball” is, and has always been, bunk!
You have to establish “throwing strikes”. Félix’s Fastball is below average and very very hit-able for a few years now, teams were sitting on that fastball and crushing it! Hitting is all about timing, pitching is about throwing off the hitters timing to get them out.

  • Altavilla protects Felix's game pitching into an inning ending DP in the 6th.

Kind of nice having a real 1st baseman in Healy. 3-6-3. :)

  • Great win. For once I'd like to see this team get off to a great start. It seems like every season we are chasing. If we get pitching like this for most of the season I like our chances.

  • He got robbed on one of those calls. Def was a strike

But, can't really ask for a more exciting opener than that. Take down Kluber in a close ball game. I'll take it.

Because the schedule makers forgot Safeco has a roof when they scheduled an open date in case of a rainout on opening day.

  • It just doesn't make any sense to give rest on the second game of the season, not to mention it is in the middle of a series. I feel like off days should be for travel or in between series. Just some really dumb scheduling.

  • Paxton crapping the bed early. Fell behind counts early, and the hitters were sitting on the fastball.
Gotta pitch inside and mix up pitches better, and quit falling behind counts.

Its just in case of a delay for opening day. They cant give vouchers and move the game to after game 2, then the people who paid for opening day tickets get screwed out of an actuall opening day, so they leave the day between open just in case. It doesnt make sense for Seattle because there's a roof and the schedule makers are dumb.

no. Saudi Arabia's Prince visited seattle yesterday and that a lone caused lots of traffic and security. Figured they wouldnt want a baseball game in seattle the same day.

Anyways - Really hoping Seager and Healy wake up...especially with Cruz twisting his ankle.

  • Cruz will have an MRI on his sprained ankle tomorrow. He sprained it slipping on the dugout steps after his HR today. You can't make this stuff up. I swear, this team is not only getting bit hard by the injury bug, but this team also seems to suffer some of the most bizarre and far fetched injuries.

  • Like I said earlier in the thread (or the other thread) Haniger rarely gives away AB’s when healthy.
He has a great mental approach to his AB’s. Great start for the team taking a series from a real good baseball team.
