  • Felix bunting into 2 double plays is maddening. Felix is possibly the worst player I can imagine trying to bunt.

Yep, it failed so miserably the first time, they decided to do it again, and to their surprise (no one else’s) same result.
If they let him hack he probably strikes out (one out) vs 2 outs, or maybe a blind squirrel finds a nut and he gets a hit.

  • Felix had a quality start. If we're relying on our pitcher to win the game with a bat, we really are screwed.

Suddenly, the Padres have a Cy Young pitcher? :34853_doh:

  • Just disappointing but predictable. To allow a guy with an era near 7, in just his 4th career start totally shut down our lineup is nothing short of pathetic.

The bats collectively have gone to pot in the 2nd half. Our bottom 5 guys in the lineup have had absolutely terrible approaches at the plate for awhile.

Agreed. It's over. This team is struggling so much right now, it's pathetic. I feel like the whole organization put all their chips in the pot mid-season and it backfired, miserably. From the Dipoto and Servais extensions, to bad trades (the bad trades have been an ongoing issue since Dipoto has been here), to the constant injuries, to Dipoto once again shrugging off the rotation. The beginning of the season was a blast, but let's be real here, that was nothing more than an overachieving team. The run differential isn't a mistake. That is a complete reflection of this team's many flaws.

  • It's over and it sucks. Good thing they kept it interesting until football season could roll around this year.

I think thepeelsessions is spot on, our run differential is a direct reflection of this team and the way our season has gone. Win close or lose BIG. Just not enough talent to carry this team through the season.

  • Very nice win. LeBlanc with 7 scoreless and his best outing of the season. Jumped on Oakland early and cruised from there. 4.5 back. At least makes the rest of the series interesting.

Colome had a rough night. However he has been awesome for most part since we got him. Im not worried on colome. The others? Yes.(minus diaz)

Huge game tomorrow. I hope felix pulls out old felix tomorrow. I dont think he will and think we split with Oakland.

Hopefully im wrong and we sit 3.5 back with 25 left.

  • Has anyone else noticed that seager is never ready for balls because he is always lifting his feet when the batter hits the ball? It's a bad habit to get into and he always does it so he ends up being incredibly slow to the side opposite of the raised foot.

Here is an example from today of a routine double play ball that was just out of his reach because his right foot was being lifted just as the batter made contact.

  • Another awful outing by Hernandez. Gets hit hard and walks 2 people. If you're going to get shelled every start, at least keep the damn ball over the plate and quit giving them free bases. Terrible command. How much more of him do we have to endure?

Still trying to live off of his fastball. He will get lit up everytime until he seldomly uses that pitch anymore.
Hitters are “sitting on” that pitch. 87-91mph and flat = batting practice for MLB hitters.

He was really good for 5 innings and unfortunately the 6th fell apart as well my dreams for playoffs.

Maybe ny will sweep Oakland and we sweep balty and be 2 back with 22 left but doubt it. Oakland will probably win 2 of 3.

Source? I agree that there has not seemed to be a lot of fire in them, especially the bats, but the defense has been lackluster at times, too.

The team has seemed a bit complacent in the face of a season spiralling away from them.

Servais has been a bit low key, too. I know he's a rookie manager, but it seems like he could show a little more emotion to toward the guys. There comes a time when the manager has to KATN (kick ass and take names ;) ).

  • It isn't Seager and it isn't Nicasio and it isn't Gordon or any of the others. It's the shirt. The moment a player puts on the shirt, he turns to shit. The moment he takes it off to join another team, he becomes better.

This shirt could turn Trout and Harper into Smoak and Ackley.

  • The Mariners are such a pathetic franchise. What will this be now, 43 years and only 4 playoff appearances? The Sonics have been gone for over a decade now and the M's haven't even made the playoffs since they've been gone. We've adopted new teams like the Sounders and the Storm who have had much bigger success than the Mariners who have been around for a long time. I brought it up before, but the Mariners should just start fresh, get rid of the name and all the history and start over. Other than Griffey and the 116 win season, there is nothing to be proud of about this franchise. I don't watch their games anymore, do the announcers and postgame media people even try to spin them as being a successful team anymore? I just don't see how we can compete next season, and it's not like we can rebuild with the current team.
