  • The epicenter was miles from my house. It flung us around like ping pong balls in our house! It seemed to last forever and I thought my house was going to collapse! Not out of the woods yet. Pray for everyone here if you can. No power and the temp is dropping up here. This is insane!

  • Lots of damage but no serious injuries from anyone I know of. My work has cracks in the foundation and many walls. My house has drywall cracks and lost a water pipe so had water pouring in my house for over an hour before the water was able to turn off. Gonna be a long expensive few weeks getting back to reality

  • Just got done cleaning. So far no damage at my place. The epicenter was about 15 miles from my place. Electric is back on and just hoping for no aftershocks. Was a crazy day here in Wasilla but we are very fortunate that it was not worse. Hope everyone here in the area is ok!

    Glad everyone is ok.

As a footnote, imagine that in the Seattle area, we are due and they expect a 7.0 - 7.8 at any time. We are over due.

Agreed any lineman in any of the utilities get a lot of thankless hours putting the infrastructure back together for us all, working ungodly hours in dangerous environments, take a moment if you can to get a to go coffee and a snack if they are near by and give it to them they will appreciate it I am sure.

  • It was on the TV news here - I was shocked at the damage, but of course relieved there were no casualties. But Kidhawk, bad enough having a pipe burst in your house. :(

It must be terrifying, and the dread of waiting for aftershocks, too.

I've got a friend who is a Prof at the University of Washington, who grew up in the Oakland area, and I have always been shocked he describes earthquakes as "cool." I've only experienced two very small ones here, although I did somehow immediately realise what had happened.

I hope there are no more aftershocks.
