  • Significant talks are underway with "The X-Files" stars Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny and creator Chris Carter for more of the drama series, Fox's entertainment president said.

"Schedules are hard, but we are working hard to get this done and we would love to get another season out soon," programming chief David Madden told a TV critics meeting Monday.

  • Significant Talks = how much money do we have to throw at Duchovny and Anderson to make this work.

Not sure if I'd watch another season, it was pretty underwhelming.......especially the main story arc they tried to weave throughout the episodes. Cheeeeeesy.

  • Even if it's not what it used to be I will always watch X-Files with Scully and Mulder involved. I just hope they can work around mine and Gillian's wedding date.

  • The X-Files is bringing back Mulder and Scully 2.0 for Season 11.

TVLine has learned exclusively that Robbie Amell (The Flash) and Lauren Ambrose (Six Feet Under) have signed on to reprise their roles as Agents Miller and Einstein in the series’ latest revival (set to bow on Fox in early 2018). It remains unclear how many of Season 11’s 10 episodes they will appear in.

The pair made their X-Files debut in last year’s six-episode revival as FBI special agents who bore more than a passing resemblance to David Duchovny’s Mulder and Gillian Anderson’s Scully. (Amell’s Miller was open to nontraditional ideas and explanations, while Ambrose’s Agent Einstein — a redheaded doctor who chose to make her career in the Bureau — was far more interested in solving mysteries by using clear-cut, irrefutable science.)

There was buzz that Fox and series creator Chris Carter briefly toyed with (but ultimately jettisoned) the idea of launching an X-Files spinoff centered on Miller and Einstein, something Carter neither confirmed not denied. For her part, Ambrose sidestepped the spinoff chatter when we spoke to her last year. “All I know is it was a great place to work and I would love to do more,” she said at the time. “I love working with Chris and David and Gillian. They’re all amazing, talented people… and I would like nothing more than to do more.”

  • Really the show you can never, ever replace Mulder and Scully aka David and Gillian! The original is the original. Despite now being older.

  • Series has been horrible since Vince Gilligan hasn't been a part of it. Just die already, X-Files. You were good when you were good.

  • I never cared much for X-Files, but I loved the lead-in show from it's first season. The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr. died far too young.

  • Sigh. I wanted so badly to come in here and rave about the new season with Scully and Mulder. I wanted the writing to be smart, the acting engaging and believable.

    I Wanted To Believe.

But just like you don't give up on a loved one with dementia, I will continue to watch them as long as they are playing those roles.

  • I thought the last episode was much better. Felt more like the old X-Files and not this weird 21st Century hybrid version we're seeing. There's still hope if they can really focus on the writing. Both Mulder and Scully have fantastic chemistry but they are hand tied by the writing. It's not far off...Just a tweak here a tweak there can bring this series back to what it was originally.

And I'm pretty sure I've mentioned it before but Scully gets hotter by the year and that alone is worth watching. :smilingalien:

  • Well this is sad news. :(

While Duchovny can’t seem to quit Mulder, and is open for a season 12, Anderson is definitely ready to hang up Scully’s hat.

“I won’t change my mind. This is it for me,” says Anderson. She recently starred in The Fall (2013-2016) War and Peace (2016), and last year’s American Gods. She will next star in the upcoming action comedy, The Spy Who Dumped Me.

“Now I’m in a position where I am offered different kinds of stuff and I get to challenge myself in different ways on a regular basis. It feels like it would be counter-productive, or counter-intuitive to sign myself up to do something that doesn’t allow me that freedom.”

Duchovny adds with a wry smile, “I’ve tried to say goodbye to Fox Mulder many times, and I’ve failed. I’m good either way. I’m good with this being the end, I’m good with it not being the end. I can’t see the future. I don’t know.”
