I didn't get this out of either of these two docs.

The focus is of course on the suspect or convicted killer(s), but any good doc will give you a sympathetic view of the victims.

The Confession Tapes is also a good doc series on Netlfix. But probably not what you're looking for, because it goes into different murder convictions around the country where the suspect was coerced into a confession. But still a good doc series.

  • Anybody get through GLOW season 2 yet? It's really damn good. I'm impressed. I breezed through that, pausing only to wipe the occasional tear, in just a couple of days, alternating nights with Kiss Me First, which also turned out to be really good. Meanwhile, I'm trudging through Luke Cage season 2 like thick, deep mud. I dunno why, but it just isn't grabbing me like season 1 did. I've heard mostly good things about it, and I don't dislike, but it just isn't hooking me yet.

Yeah I watched all of season 2 of GLOW, it’s such a great show. It doesn’t get the recognition, but it’s up there with some of Netflix’s best series. I actually might prefer it to Orange Is The New Black (same writers I think). You can probably make arguments for season 2 being the best season of any Netflix season.

  • They are not on Netflix, but Barry on HBO is a must watch. It's a bit of a dark comedy. If you like Bill Hader it won't disappoint. Also, Sharp Objects on HBO is only two episodes in, but is great. It is based on the book under the same name, also same author who wrote Gone Girl. You can binge Barry as they already finished season one.

Hell yeah, fantastic show............and if you like Narcos check out American Made the Tom Cruise movie.

Same timeline, same plot, even some of the same people. But with a funner lighter spin. I liked it more than I thought I would.

Such a great show. Love the entire premise and subject matter.

Cameron Britton's performance of Ed Kemper was outstanding and seriously chilling.

Oh yeah Britton is outstanding as that character. When I first heard about Mindhunter I assumed it was a docu-series. It's a great premise with a great cast.

Watched the first episode last night. I like that it doesn't sensationalize or glorify the killers like so many docu-drama's do........very fair honest depiction of the killer.

  • Lost in Space reboot grew on me and now I’m upset the second season may be a year away. Bosch was terrific as was the mini series The Night Manager with Hugh Laurie and Tom Huddleston. On a less serious note I enjoyed The Tick reboot more than I thought I would. Its fun. I’ve lost interest in Flash and Arrow after viewing a few seasons.

Ozark, yep season 2 is end of the month.

Not quite Breaking Bad level of awesomeness, some VERY convenient plot holes to advance the story that annoyed me a little. But a good show.

Actually just finished S1 of Ozark yesterday. Really scratched the anti-hero crime drama itch that I've been having. Can't wait for S2, just hope they don't jump the shark with it.

Starting up Peaky Blinders again. I watched S1 waaay back right before S2 came out and loved it, but I just don't remember enough to move forward. The girlfriend hasn't seen it at all so it's a good opportunity for a rewatch.

Season 2 just got announced, but no release date yet.

    https://www.radiotimes.com/news/2018-08 ... l-delaney/

BBC don't care bout seasons or time constraints, they'll go years between seasons. Which IMO is a good thing, too many uneven or downright terrible seasons with promising shows because the network puts pressure on the production to get it in their fall schedule.

We're three episodes in................and while Ozark is a very enjoyable show, I have the same problem with it as I had with season one.

The story bridges are just ridiculously easy and convenient. Meaning every episode there's at least 3-4 outlandishly complicated story arcs that MUST happen to push the story along, and low and behold it all unfolds EXACTLY how it has to happen.

    - Have to figure out a way to meet a wealthy political powerhouse.........sure he just so happens to be having a charity event that you can buy a table at and talk him into something no wealthy political powerhouse would give a rat's ass into helping, BUILD A CASINO WITH TOTAL STRANGERS!

    - Have to convince the Kansas City mob to back off on strong arming your labor force for the casino? Oh hey the old dude dying of cancer just so happens to be besties with the mob boss! ROAD TRIP!!

Again, good show, very entertaining. But the plot devices and bridges are downright laughable.

If you can't see what I'm talking about as a legitimate criticism, then this is not a conversation for us to have.

The key to any great script or screenplay is being honest with the conflict in the story. The fact that Ozark jumps the honesty shark at seemingly ever turn to progress the story lazily is a valid criticism.

I'm only half way through the second season, so I can't speak to what may or may not happen, but what you see as legit criticism I see as part of what makes the show entertaining. Some things may seem a little too convenient, but most of it isn't completely unrealistic, and sometimes convenient shit happens in real life. I think it's why the roller coaster of a story works here. It's not like some crazy over the top deus ex machina shit. It's highly crafty, intelligent people who know how to connect with and manipulate people and situations to work to their advantage encountering crazy, terrible people with skewed to no moral compass, and virtually unsolvable problems, hanging on to their lives and well being by the skin of their teeth. The show has definitely not jumped the shark for me yet at this point.

  • Nice! We are only 2 episodes in. Damn I love that show.

The man crush with Bateman is strong with this one.

  • Watched the TV Series "the Mist" and struggled through most of it, after what I thought was a very promising beginning. Then I found out it has apparently been abandoned anyway, after the ten episodes of Season One.

I'm now, believe it or not, watching Star Trek: Deep Space Nine! I never even finished watching it all when it was on TV here originally in the 1990s, nor did I ever finish The Next Generation. Heck, I'm a bit behind... :)

I'm two episodes in, and can't decide whether I like it or not.

I love Fukunaga, so that's what led me to the show. But so far it's very uneven and slow. I'll give it a couple more episodes.............both Hill and Stone are great though.

Just cruised through 6 episodes, definitely starts slow and the pilot might cause some people to not keep watching. I think this show needs to be watched in its entirety before giving it a review. The way it's structured makes it hard to really judge it on an episode by episode basis. Apparently the final couple episodes are the best of the series so I'm excited to finish it up.

Agree on Fukunaga, guy is a tremendous film maker/director. I'll give anything he makes a shot.

  • Got a few episodes of Ozark season 2 left, so far it has been an okay season. Maybe I got my expectations too high after reading some of the comments.

I've heard mixed reviews on Maniac.

ATypical season 2 came out, season 1 was really enjoyable. Will probably watch that next.

Making a Murderer season 2 comes out in October.

Yeah, it definitely starts off slow but picks up after a couple of episodes. Its when they are in the experiment that things get good.

  • I thought the first two episodes of Maniac were anything but slow, right in my wheelhouse. Episode 4 threw me for a loop, now I'm really interested to see where this goes.

  • Highly recommend American Vandal.. premise seems freaking dumb but the acting and script is surprisingly good. It leaves me in stitches constantly. I'm midway through season 1. Apparently season 2 is supposed to take place at a fictitious catholic school in Bellevue.

I've seen both seasons, such a great show. Looks dumb, which it kind of is, but it is hilarious and has great writing. Actors also do a great job, makes it seem like a real documentary. I like the first season more, and yeah the second season takes place in Bellevue.
