  • Stuff is very real and deadly
I"m interested in this since we almost moved there.

I'm just wondering if anyone knows where you can get a live feed of what's going on, though, thinking about it, it's night and probably unviewable. However, if there is a link to a feed, please let me know.

  • Latest I've seen is this:

    http://www.cnn.com/2017/02/12/us/califo ... m-failure/

    Most recent update:

A plan is currently in place to employ helicopters to drop rocks into a crevice atop the erosion, which would plug the hole, he said.
As of about 6:30 p.m. (9:30 p.m. ET), about 2 inches of water was coming over the spillway, which was down significantly from when authorities first issued the evacuation orders.

  • I am not going to pretend that I am an expert but throwing rocks in that hole isn't going to help. I have been on enough water events to tell you that those rocks will get washed away with any significant water running down that spillway.

  • My mom & step-dad live in Oroville, as do a couple of our members. This site has had some really good coverage.

  • Not trying to turn this into a religious talk but if anyone needs food, shelter, or help in general then please go to one of the Sikh temples in Sacramento area. More than 180,000 people are/were being evacuated so this information might be helpful for someone.

Sikh Temples in the Sacramento area:

    2301 Evergreen Avenue, West Sacramento
    1090 Main Street, Roseville
    7676 Bradshaw Road, Sacramento
7733 Elk Grove Florin Road, Sacramento
    8132 Elsie Avenue, Sacramento
    6221 16th Street, Rio Linda

  • Thanks L80 it's a bit of a scare but it looks to be under control now. Water levels have dropped in the lake it's no longer flowing over the top. The issue is now that the hole that was formed under the emergency spillway still has a chance to reach the lake. That would cause a 30 foot wall of water to flow down the feather river to the Sacramento River . But that's worst case .
