  • Teaser trailer is awesome, though shows nothing. Damn, am I psyched, though. There's sooooo much material to work with for King's work that touches on or takes place in the fictional town of Castle Rock, Maine.

Finally a original idea, it could be considered a town of the Twilight Zone where virtually every thing King has written has a link too.

  • Well, since it's all going to be based on existing work, I'm not sure how original it is, per se; but I get what you mean.

    This has HUGE potential.

  • Wonder how much of it will have tie-ins to the old movie/book Needful Things. That was in Castle Rock, as I recall.

    And yeah, that's... AWESOME!

I'm disappointed. I thought you'd written all this from memory. :D

Seriously though, wow, what a huge cross reference. I mean, in hindsight I recognise all the links, but never saw them all thus summarised. Thank you!

  • I've heard they're very good and absolutely FILLED with King references. I'm waiting for the season to be over so I can shotgun it all at once.

  • I've been enjoying it quite a bit so far and it's definitely got a ton of references to King's library of work. Just heard today that it's done really well in viewership and has been renewed for a second season.

  • I'm a few episodes in and it's decent. Nothing great but worth the watch. I'm not all that familiar with Stephen King, so maybe I'm the wrong person to critique the show, but it feels like it can be so much better. It just doesn't feel on par with a show that HBO, Netflix or Showtime would make. The reviews have been subpar, metacritic has it sitting in the 60's which isn't great. It's the type of show that will keep you watching based on the mystery and unknown. I'll likely finish it, but there are probably much better shows out there.

  • I can see why some aren't overly excited about it. It's definitely not a fast paced action packed show, but more of a slow burn. I think it's headed down a path for longevity instead of the quick pay offs. Both have their place and I can enjoy shows of either variety, but this one is definitely the slow burn variety using both the obvious and not so obvious King Novel references to keep the ardent King fans interested until the (hopeful) payoff down the road

  • I'm only a couple episodes in, but I really like how the show is shaping up so far. I think the actor who plays Henry has been really good. I really missed John Locke's (Terry O'Quinn) presence/voice and was pleasantly surprised by his appearance in the first episode and the ensuing voice overs/narrations.

So far the show has enough mystery and unknowns that I want to keep watching. Interested to see where the side characters end up going (new Warden, Zalewski, Pangborn, Molly). Definitely some interesting relationships going on with how they all interact with Henry and of course Henry's history in the town.

  • Ok I just watched episode 9 over the weekend and everything is coming together really well. I am not sure if they plan to end this season and start a fresh story next season or continue this story next year, but I guess I'll find out soon as the final episode of season 1 comes out Wednesday. I do like the direction they took it. That's all I'll say so as not to put in spoilers for those waiting to binge it.

Castle Rock is a Hulu original series, so as far as I know, it's only available on Hulu. I believe (not 100%) that hulu is only available in the USA, so I'm assuming it's not available in Australia without a workaround.

  • Now that I've seen the series all the way through, I'm kind of disappointed in the end of season 1. I did enjoy the season and episode 9 of 10 was probably the best of the bunch. Still not going to add spoilers, but I was disappointed with the way they chose to end it. Maybe it'll be for the best once season 2 starts, but for now, I'll just have to wait and see. Overall though, still a thoroughly enjoyable series.

  • Just cruised through 7 episodes, show is great. Love all the references sprinkled in.

The 7th episode 'The Queen' deserves some Emmy recognition, Sissy Spacek was terrific. Thought it felt very Leftovers'y and the final song used is by the composer on the Leftovers, which was icing on the cake.

I've also heard episode 9 is solid.

Episode 7 was well acted and executed. It definitely has that feel that it was almost built to get nominations. 9 though is, for me, the best episode of the season. It's so good that it may be why I found myself disappointed in the final episode last night.

Just finished the season. I agree, I thought the finale was good overall but don't like how they ended it. Especially since it's considered an anthology series so next season will be a different story in the same world. Overall, very happy with the season and excited for what they do next. Episode 7 and 9 should be in the running for some Emmy's I think.

    **Kind of spoilers?**

Post credits scene with Jane Levy seems to hint next season will take place within the work of The Shining.

I also was thinking that they planned to have each season be a one and done type of thing, but that ending makes me think that season one will bleed over into the future and whether that rears it's head in season 2 or a future season I have no idea.

BTW, I've been keeping this thread as free of spoilers as possible, but if anyone wants to talk specifics feel free to start a spoiler thread.
