  • Beat me to it. Yeah, this just came out of nowhere. Was a little shocked to read it this morning. Surgery is like that every once in awhile I guess. Of course, there are no details yet as they prepare their official announcement, so we don't know how complicated a surgery it was.

He was on my short list of favorite actors. I know he was no De Niro, I just liked him and the way he acted. The first thing I think of when I think about the movie "Aliens" is "GAME OVER, MAN! GAME OVER!". Loved him in Twister too. And as the asshole Chet in Weird Science. The idiot scumbag in True Lies. And so many other memorable movie roles. And all his TV acting like in that Hatfield/McCoy's mini series. He will be missed. Maybe a bit more by me than most... RIP Bill

I think most of those highlights are from the wrong movie. Paxton played Morgan in the movie Tombstone, not in the movie Wyatt Earp.

  • Dive six, here we are again on the deck of Titanic. Two and a half miles down. Three-thousand, eight hundred and twenty-one meters. The pressure outside is three-and-a-half tons per square inch. These windows are nine inches thick, and if they go, it's sayonara in two micro-seconds.

He just did an interview with Marc Maron a few weeks ago and said he got rheumatic fever from a strep throat when he was a kid which caused some lasting heart damage.

Great character actor. Kind of a shame he was almost always in supporting roles, but he sure nailed them.

Interesting...I was wondering why he died so young and what kind of surgery he had. I always liked him. Maybe not an A lister per se, but a good actor all the same. Always enjoyed all of his work and he will be missed.

  • LOS ANGELES (AP) — Bill Paxton’s death certificate states the actor died last month from a stroke days after surgery to replace a heart valve and repair damage to his aorta.

The aorta is the main artery that carries blood from the heart to the rest of the body.

The prolific actor died late on Feb. 25. That was 11 days after the surgery.
