  • My latest giant scale project is the ESM 50cc F4U-1A Corsair. I plan to scale it out to museum quality scale. Just don't ask me how I am going to find the nerve to maiden it when the time comes but that's a topic for another day. I have sought the help of true artists to paint and weather my detailed full depth cockpit and pilot. Here's the before and after of my 1/5 scale Pappy Boyington pilot. Pretty remarkable.

  • Good thing your artist has integrity - he could have painted that control stick different and ended up with a whole different product!

  • Bah Bah BlackSheep.

Question Todd, in a Corsair did the pilot actually sit with his legs straight out in front like that?

I had a chance to sit in one many years ago as a kid, I don’t remember my legs being that straight.

No not that straight unless they were jamming the brakes. I won't know until I get it in the mail but the legs may be flexible a bit. Either way in the cockpit you won't see past his knees if that.

  • Pappy finally made it home several days late. Typical. Probably went on a 5 day bender. He's in his "office" to sober up. He has plenty of time since the maiden will be in the Spring.
