  • Wow. Just saw that Smokey and the Bandit was on TV and almost watched it, except then I realized it was Cannonball Run that I liked.

  • RIP Bandit! Cherished those movies from the 70's and 80's growing up.

  • Reynolds was an old school macho throwback actor, but I dug him cause he had a sense of humor about it, and was as charismatic as it gets.

Also maybe didn't get enough credit for his acting chops. Striptease, Deliverance, Boogie Nights..........all really good. I think he kinda got pigeonholed into the cheesy comedies and RomComs, before they were even called RomComs.

Sad day. Underrated actor in many ways. RIP.

    Easily my Fav Reynolds flic.

It’s a movie, that if done correctly I’d love to see a remake of.

Could maybe be impossible in today’s PC culture.

That was the film that put him on the map really, good film and If memory serves he did all his own stunts including the river one. I also remember hom before atcually acting being a Stunt Man for a time.

You can't remake those types of films anymore, just to many people with a axe to grind that would want to call it out in some way.

Although it would be interesting to see who they would want to Cast in the rolls.

  • He turned down the role in Star Wars for Han Solo...liked the bandit flick, Cannonball Run, Boogie Nights, Mystery Alaska, and a bunch of others. The guy could definitely act and its likely that more guys of his era will be signing off more and more in the months to come...but we have the Rock to act in everything now so its all good...or not...

We'd have to have a more PC cast (couldn't just be four white dudes), and you couldn't use Georgian hillbillies as the antagonists, that's too offensive to native Georgians............................ you'd have to have the canoe trip take place in Northern Canada.

Certainly couldn't sexually assault anyone, have to change that to mild bullying or name calling.
