Fallout as an always-online survival game with RPG elements removed.

    Trash.

  • I'm going to try it eventually, but not at launch. I really think that Bethesda is going to screw the pooch on this one. I also have too many other games on my plate with Divinity OS2, new Spider-Man DLC out Tuesday, RDR2 sitting on my hard drive to unlock Thursday night, and finally Call of Cthulhu on the 30th.

    Fallout can wait.

  • I don't play Bethesda games for multiplayer. Fallout is an RPG universe, and my friends in Beta are already telling me how "empty" the experience is. They say, if you mod the heck out of Fallout 4 and add a bunch of Skyrim style pretty trees and flora, and then remove all factions, NPC's and quests, and dialogue and add a bunch of gankers -- essentially you have Fallout 4.

If your idea of a good time is "Rust" or "World of Warcraft" then you'll be equally let down, because it's not full hardcore PVP like Rust, and it has very little coop PVE stuff to do.

So essentially it's a "soft" online PVP experience in an RPG world completely empty of RPG content.

The whole point of this game is to suck the last drop of juice out of their old creation engine, use the leftover elements they already created for F04, and to make a bunch of money with online transactions, and I have no interest.

I'll spend my money on RDR2 -- and then again next year on Cyperpunk 2077.

Not sure what beta your friends are playing. There is a ton of co-op content, there absolutely are RPG elements, and there are zero online transactions.

    Ha ha ha! Nice touch.

No, not really. I hit level 41 last night while exploring a cave with a friend. Is it perfect? No. Does it have issues? Absolutely, but nothing that makes me want to stop playing. I'm still enjoying my time running around and exploring Appalachia.

They really need to push updates/fixes faster. The launch code debacle is pretty bad as well, Bethesda really needs to get their shit together.

Overall though, it's an oddly addictive game if your a big Fallout fanboy. This is one of the reasons I keep playing off and on, it's...comforting. The best way I've explained it to people is that it's the way I'd always imagined a post nuclear world, lonely and cutthroat.
