  • Movies not mentioned: The Crow, From Hell, Road to Perdition.

I think Sin City really is the best done comic movie. Frank Miller is a total badass and offered a lot of help to Rodriguez on doing it right.

And V for Vendetta wasn't great. But I haven't liked Natalie Portman as an actor since The Professional.

The Crow - yes indeed! Fantastic movie. Road to Perdition was also good. And I completely agree on Natalie Portman. Don't care for her as an actress at all.

You've never been more wrong. Even as wrong as you are about Zooey, this is wronger. I hate you.

Don't care. It's a dreadful film. I didn't care for Scott pilgrim, but I didn't read the comic. Most of the fans of the comic i've talked to really dug it, so I'll give it a pass.

Sin City was fantastic, and i'm eagerly awaiting the next movie coming out this year.

I've never read the Scott Pilgrim comic. It's just a great movie.

Bale's Batman voice ruined it for me. I just can't get passed it. That and the whole Two-Face thing was stupid. Bale's great as Bruce Wayne. Bane was stupid. Don't like Maggie Gyllenhaal. Don't like Katie Holmes. Anne Hathaway's best asset is her ass. Michael Caine's awesome, as is Morgan Freeman, obviously. Heath's Joker was obviously amazeballs. Don't like Liam Neeson. But all that aside, it's the Batman voice. It's like Jar Jar Binks. Unimaginably stupid. Also I do support giving cancer to puppies, or at least making them fight to the death. Not kittens though.

  • I agree about Bale's Batman voice. Completely unnecessary and hackish, and really the only thing about those movies that annoys me. Well, aside from him miraculously healing from a crippling back injury like that, that was really stupid.

Aside from that, the movies are great.

  • I don't have any issue with Bale changing his voice, he is trying to conceal a secret identity after all. I feel like he could have done something else though, instead of making it as raspy as he did.

The Scott Pilgrim trades are a great read, and if anyone has teenagers that are interested in getting into comics, that would be a great start.

Also, WOW at that professional comment, LOL! So true.

  • As a fan of Community, I can't watch any of Nolan's Batman movies without hearing Danny Pudi's Batman voice and chuckling. I almost had to excuse myself from the theater during Dark Knight Rises.

and Scott Pilgrim was excellent. I had never read the graphic novel, but the movie hooked me with the 16-bit rendition of the Universal
theme followed by the music to the opening of Legend of Zelda playing as the camera scanned down on Scott's place,
    exactly like the game starts.

Best super hero movie right now, for me, is Avengers. Joss Whedon + comics + movie = awesome

  • All of these great comic movies, and no mention of Constantine? Never read the comics though so can't compare them. I also thought Keanu Reeves was pretty good in this movie, no surfer fallback like he usually does in his other flicks.

Who didn't? But, the Lundgren Punisher is the lesser of the two choices, and I can't get on anyone for liking bad movies as I absolutely loved the film Rubber, and it was a pointless movie.

I will admit there is an off chance that after I stopped watching, James Cameron turned into Stanley Kubrick and turned the abysmal plot into something amazing.

I also didn't like Titanic, but the effects at the time were impressive.

  • SacHawk, Fern Gully is like the 73rd remake of the same story, so it clearly trumps Avatar because Avatar is like the 78th remake of that same story and Fern Gully's original because it hadn't yet hit that magical "75 remakes is the max, anything past that is bland re-done garbage" barrier. Don't you know these guys are proving their knowledge of history, here?

@12evanf: You know how James Cameron has made a bunch of amazing action sequences in pretty much every film he has ever done? Aliens, Terminator, Terminator 2, True Lies, etc.? Well, you missed like a 40-minute war at the end of Avatar that was awesome as hell. I'm glad you did, though; because your hasty judgement means you don't deserve to see it, in my opinion. Just like how a good parent doesn't let their kid take two bites of dinner, say this sucks, and go straight to dessert.

He didn't. Instead, he used a bunch of sci-fi tropes, thinly-veiled political messages and a ridiculously predictable plot.

It's a beautiful movie to look at, but not a good movie to watch.

I've recently been getting into The Watchmen. Watched it once, didn't care too much for it. Got a couple of the graphic novels and I'm starting to understand why people dig it. Much different from the average comic book story, and a lot of great underlying tones/themes that get the brain churning.

Love anything Frank Miller is involved with, Kickass, and V for Vendetta are a couple others that I can get into whenever they're on.

Just wish they'd make Y the Last Man into a movie, as long as they don't mess it up, haha.

Good call on Y The Last Man. They needed to make that, like, yesterday. I think it'd be great as an HBO 10 part series. The story is too large to put into a 2 hour move.

Also, gotta agree on Miller..the man's books, if put into the right hands, they just come across as smart and badass, compared to your typical Comic book cross-over film (which are great too). 300 was a fun movie (though, I think the novel Gates of Fire would be a much better movie of the Spartans, if made). The Watchmen is my favorite. I also thought his version of Batman was also a great book, and I think had a big impact on Christopher Nolan's new Batman series (which I thought was great.)

  • I fully back Conan as a movie and as a comic. In the comic world he holds the record for highest body count. Don't mess with CTB!

Which version, Dolph Lundgren or the good one with Thomas Jane?

Thomas Jane one- never saw the other- sounds like I never should either.

Ferngully was the original script to Avatar. After edits it was called Pocahontas.
