I thought you were referencing Miami and I came in very skeptical.

Dolphins are a lot smarter than humans.
They saw people start to form societies and thought "maybe we should wait until those dumb mofos kill each other before we start ours."

For the record, and for what it's worth (let the jokes begin), I've heard some people claim that Extraterrestrial races have referred to dolphins as "Water Humans".

They've also referred to apes as tree dolphins.

They're almost TOO smart, could be a potential threat. I'd launch a nuke into the ocean and write "This one's for nothing, Flipper".
Dolphins, apes/chimps, humans are only animas to use tools, right? Dolphins use sponges applied to nose, to root around in rough ocean floor.

And yet they run into slow moving ships that don't maneuver and they jump playfully out of the water in a little Cove in Japan called Taiji, but they never jump over the 6" floats holding the nets where they wait to be slaughtered... and they never tell their complex social structures about the BAD places from which dolphins rarely escape.
Color me skeptical on cetacean intelligence. Trainable, yes, but so is my dog. And the mirror thing is cuz mirrors that cross the water/air interface make rainbows.

Slaughtering wildlife for not collecting ransom is about as stupid as anything gets. That conservation group should have probably thought about educating the villagers about conservation rather than promising to pay money. That never works in the long run.

Maybe they know they're high in protein and are sacrificing themselves for our benefit?
