We obviously have a shit ton of problems. The gay marriage thing is a big one to those it affects.

I'd argue that it has been a "big" issue to those it doesn't affect, the Christian Talevangelists trying to turn this nation into a Christian version of Iran.

There's a lot of rubes out there who are easily distracted by shiny objects, and the whole issue of gay rights-which should actually be a considered human rights issue BTW-seems to drive many of them into a frenzy.

This has been largely driven by RW hate radio and the rich media preachers that get revenue from the hatred. Most people just kind go :229031_shrug: when you actually ask them about it. One of my favorites is to ask people who oppose the gay marriage issue is "How?.....How does allowing this actually affect you personally?" There is no real answer. They're just going by what they've been told by preachers and radio hosts with an agenda.

You might be confusing "agenda" with "opinion" there.

FWIW, Christians really should spend less time and resources on a political issue and more time spreading the gospel. It's not as if legislation banning gay marriage will bring any homosexual relationships to a screeching halt anyway.

I'm not fan of Christianity, but even the worst ones are no where near Islam or Iran, that is just melodrama on your part Sutz.

Republican Senator Rob Portman just came out the pro gay marriage closet also.
Apparently his son turned out to be gay and Senator Portman did some deep thinking about the bible and apparently the bible teaches us to love all unconditionally and with compassion. Really? Did they edit the bible 2 years ago where love and compassion werent in jesus's teachings?

Loving unconditionally and rejecting certain lifestyles are not mutually exclusive.

It's not a lifestyle. Lifestyle's are choices. Homosexuality is not a choice.
