Apparently I use a lot more space on my computer than I thought I would (pretty sure it's because I'm using SkyDrive and sharing my wife's files). Anyway, I have a harddrive that is plenty big, but it is partitioned to have one part for backup. I'd like to either undo that to get the space back or make that partition smaller. Since all of my files are on SkyDrive I don't really have a need to recover any files from my computer, save maybe for just being able to restore the system but even then I'd probably be just as fine buying a new computer (I go cheap and disposable).

Anybody want to walk a non-techno-geek through that process?

By cement mixer, do you mean Bailey's Irish Cream and lime juice?

I've managed to free up space, but I haven't figured out how to move it to the C drive.

Haha, you need to get the backup partition formated and down to raw.

START --> Right Click "My Computer" then Click "Manage"

Extende "Storage" --> Select "Disk Management"

You should see your two partitions. The partitions should both be in the "Disk 0" or "Disk 1" line. That means the partitions are on the same physical disk, which means you will be able to extend it (there is a way to do multiple phyisical disks but you don't want to go there).

Right click the partition you want to "remove" and click "Delete Volume" (It will turn "black" after you do this).

Next Right click the active volume (the one that is blue) and click "Extend Valume"

This may be an even dumber question, but can I just put files over onto the D drive and use it like regular disk space?

Extend Volume isn't active for me to click on.
