Now that the season is officially over for Seattle, I can start thinking about the draft. To me Seattle's #1 need once again is pass rush. Preferably a DT that can get consistent pressure up the middle to disrupt the QB and make him move his feet. Second would be a receiver that can consistently win one-on-one match-ups. Rice & Tate are nice but too many times they can't get separation even against single coverage.

2 needs; DL and WR. DL for the obvious and WR's who can "improvise" a bit.

I'd really dig Wallace from Pitt to be a target. Not only is he a burner, he's been schooled in the ways of sandlot ball via Big Ben. That would truly clear the slate for JS to go BPA.

Big #1 WR target, Pass Rush specialist, Safety or Nickle that can cover in pass pro, OL project. after seeing what Tom Cable did with Sweezy we need to get him more projects to work with. We can build them and sell them.

Lineman don't sell as well as QB's, I would be happy to fix our D -line issues in the middle. I think a ageing Clemons needs to have someone that can step in. Irvin should meld into a more NFL DE type body with an off season of working out, but we still need another guy.

Clemons may take a full year to return to form and he then will be well into his 30's.

WR's this is a perplexing situation, Wilson is very careful with the ball and doesn't throw into smaller windows, as he gets more reps that may change as he trusts his reads, arm and WR's. I seen them open or have windows but not thrown too. We may still go after a guy that can step in for Rice though, he looks good when involved but for some reason isn't thrown to alot. He also is still pretty fragile, should be better next year as he will be a year removed from his surgerys, I don't care who you are you feel them for a while and then trusting them to work without thinking is still a time process.

I have concerns with Rice as well.

He'll dissapear for games at a time, and seems to pout quite a bit. I dont like those two things in the same player.

Might be my first time ever, but I really want an OG, Sweezy is trash, and if Moffitt isn't looked at as the better RG we really are in dire straights there.

Irvin, Clemons, and Bryant all paint an ugly future at DE. MAJOR investment should be made there. Clemons is unlikely to have another 11 sack season again. Irvin is not a LEO. Bryant is (IMO) a liability.

I'm really curious about how Scruggs would look in a DE role, but DE has hurt this team more than any other position in the latter stages of the season.

pass rush, ran stopper and a nickle.

offensively, we seem to do fine even the guys we have right now.

this team is going to be scary good next year, when the young guys mature and gel together.

WR - One that has some speed.
TE - Preferably one that is athletic and has good speed.
DT - I'm hoping (DT) Jaye Howard, our 2012 4th round pick, gets out of the coaches dog house and lives up to his potential.
CB - Nickel corner
DE - Another pass rushing end.

Proclaiming this team in need of a pass rushing DE that can hold up agains the run is just an easy thing to say. It's obvious, but how to go about fixing it within the structure of the NFL salary cap/draft slotting isn't. Outside of franchise QBs those ends are the hardest players to find. There's a reason Pete trots Red Bryant out their with consistency; it's an area that he has conceeded the need for a straight-up talent advantage. He figures that very few teams are looking for players like Red so he can gain an advantage there by bypassing competition for that type of player at the DE spot. That's just one of the tough decisions PC/JS have to make. This isn't USC and college ball, we can't have a talent advantage across the board. Every single team in this league is searching for that 6-6 285 lb DE that can rush the passer and obviously not all 32 will find one, let alone two. Big Red is Pete's answer to a complicated question. While he may not be ideal he allows the Hawks to be more competitive compiling talent at other spots.

Red Bryant's role can't be judged solely on its own merits. You have to look at it in context of the team as a whole and what it allows you to do. He is Pete's attempt to build a better (more innovative) mouse trap.

Besides the obvious (DL, LB, WR), I think the Hawks could use another RB to replace Washington. Lynch seemed to wear down as the year went on (does that explain why he started fumbling more in the last few games?) and I think his carries need to be reduced during the regular season.

I don't think WR is a major need, but another deep threat would be really nice for Russel going into year 2.

DE/DT is also at the top of my list with OG, WR, Nickel, & LB

DT- That big motor, big body guy that can bring pressure up the middle.
LB- Hill's replacement, someone with great pass rush skill but who can also drop into coverage.
DE- Without knowing when Clem will be back and at what capacity, this become's a need to address.
WR- I like what Sid, Golden and DB bring to the field, adding a speedy playmaker will bring it all together.
OG- I like certain aspects of both Moffit and Sweezy, adding more compitition will force someone to take it to the next level and claim the starter role.

I'd love to see the 'hawks pick up Tavon Austin out of WVU. A lot of that is because I'm biased and a WVU fan, but I think he'd fit in the offense perfectly. He's lightning in a bottle. He'd bring a lot of versatility...speedy receiver, could line up in the backfield as a running back for a few snaps and return kicks...a kind of percy harvin role
