Ok, The more I watch the more I see him man handling Tackles, Guards, RB's. Will you please supply a link of some video where he is getting Dominated in the run game or losing contain any of him just getting owned , cause I am not seeing it. I see him getting triple teamed against same schools and doubled against tier 1 schools. I can see he has some cleaning up to do but I do not see a POS you are describing.

I see him right now as a pass rush specialist. Can he develop? Absolutely. Does he has the size and atheletic ability to be a 3 down DE. Yes. One on One on the edge or inside against a guard he is a terror when he can pin his ears back and rush.

However, when tasked to stop the run, far to often is he pushed out of the play. He tends to play too high. At 6'8" he has good bend and can play with leverage when rushing the passer. He struggles with that bend when asked to anchor and stop the run.

IMO that is caused by one of two things. One, the lack of football knowledge causes him to play slow, and play high. Two, and most concerning it could be lack of effort. He has a tremendous motor when rushing however, i struggle to see the same effort when the play goes away, or the ball is run.

Good point, I absolutely agree he has leverage problems, and I think he does lack football knowledge, if he grew up playing rugby then I can see where he gets the slow down and watch the play develop from behind approach because in rugby it is all about staying in your lanes and staying home so this could be entrained in his mind and needs to be cleaned up. You know the more I think of that and watch again he does look like he is lining up to Ruck, although if that was the case I would expect him to be much more aggressive through the wistle. If he is nearly an Olympic Athelete I dont see him having a effort problem. Good point can't deside. Only 3 years experience in American Football wow long ways in a short time.
When you say pushed out of plays in the run do you equate that to over pursuit?

I do like his hands and use of them it seems to me he gets his hands extended often and keeps the blocker off of his body and he disengauges quickly, he also has counter moves when his speed rush doesn't work. Spin is OK, Swim is strong inside, long ass arms.
Footwork leaves alot to be desired as mentioned earlier, but I don't see him off balance or bending strange when blocked so does that mean he has bad feet or are they just slow. Did not notice the lack of leg size.

It seem to me that he has trouble turning the corner, and takes poor angles in his pursuit. I'm not sure these things can be coached.

IMO he has more moves that Irvin did coming out of college.

As far as getting pushed out of plays, I think in some instances it is over pursuit. But in general he struggles keep his body square at the line of scrimmage when pursuing the run half of the time. And it is impossible to anchor when you are sideways.

I want to clarify, I am not saying that he is a bad prospect, I am just pointing out concerns. As some of us fans see the 40 time and height and assume a player is the next coming.

He looks like Jimmy Claussen.

As much as I like to joke, I really dont like laughing, feels like I'm being smothered. So, I'm mad at you for that.

Jimmy Clausen likes to tackle though, so, be fair.

Don't get lost in his numbers and size. For his size and the competition he played at SMU. He really struggles at setting the edge on outside running plays, and can get absolutely destroyed in the power run game.

You can attribute that to bad footwork, bad hands, not understanding leverage or lack of strengh, but the guy is a liablility in the run game. And with his size and the level he played at he shouldn't be.

+1

Also, he shied away from ANY and ALL contact. He's as much of a football player as Jordan Kent or Carl Lewis were.

Dude...please...!!! THAT is just not true! Take a look at these clips and feel free to explain that remark. Hunt is # 92

UMMMmmm..... Nonsense!

Here is the whole game. Feel free to point out at min and second what the heck you are talking about.

First play Hunt not involved in the O's sweep left...he set up on the D's left side. Second play Hunt isn't involved in the knocked down pass.

Hunt has looked like a too tall stiff board at the Senior bowl.

I will bet he is a 4th rounder right now.

He'll be a first rounder, for SURE. "He's tall and white...hey isn't JJ Watt tall and white too?" will be the thinking.

Sorry Huggy, I see a dude loafing behind running plays.

I agree. He definitely has some rough edges. Thing is that he is crazy strong and fast..only played organized football for 4 years. If he is this good after only getting some college coaching I feel he has tremendous room and desire for improvement. There are plenty of plays(video clips) of him being agressive and throwing his body into tackles.

If all the dude could do is throw his 82" reach up off his 6' 8" frame and consistantly block FGs he could have been the guy that secured our trip to SF last weekend.

Also he has not developed the bad habits that some US born HS and College players have ingrained in their personal lives.

Just sayin.

I don't like him for a first rounder but if he slips to our second pick I'd take him. It's not like we couldn't use the odd blocked FG. LOL
