Now, i'm not a big wrestling fan but i am a huge Olympic fan and I think this sucks. One of the original Olympic sports is being dropped starting in 2020. But yet they keep ping pong, rhythmic gymnastics and some of the other crap they call "sport".
IMO, one of the best recent Olympic moments was Rulon Gardner defeating Aleksander Kerelin who was undefeated in his previous 13 years.

Pure stupidity and politics is the only way they could decide something like this. I'm not a fan of wrestling but to take it out the olympics is incredibly absurd and lessens my view of the olympics in general.

Isn't there a couple types of wrestleing in the Olympics? The fact that going back to the origination of the Olympics you heard of wrestleing makes this a travesty, take the discus and Javelin next.
I'm sure it goes back to medical, staph infections and the transmission of them, possible fear of HIV from the mat burns that you get and contact. Money, I'm not sure what the attendence level is but viewer ship would rather watch beach volleyball.

It'll be in the 2016 games, and then it'll have to compete to be included in the games going forward. And if you want to point to a ridiculous "sport" that's kicking wrestling out, consider that golf is being added to the 2016 games. Too bad they didn't add the circle jerk, I am sure based on how some corperations are in the US we would win Gold for years to come.

They kept the modern pentathlon instead. Amazing. Look at what that "sport" is. It's like riding around on a horse, shooting a pistol, opening a soup can with your bare hands, and doing 1 armed pushups. It's the stupidest sport ever, and everybody KNEW it was going to get axed, and wrestling just happened to be in the bottom 5 or whatever it was, but that sleazeball Samaranch's son was in charge of modern pentathlon and either paid off a bunch of guys or threatened to expose them for the corruption they took part in while his dad was the IOC boss to keep it as a sport. Smart move by those who support the 'modern pentathlon' but a travesty for the olympics.
Wrestling is certainly a dying sport, I get it. But modern pentathlon isn't exactly a growing sport. It's a freaking weird sport that should probably be on Nickelodeon and involve dropping slime on people as they pass the finish line.
