  • Here are some thoughts/reviews of the new album form folks that have heard it at a listening party last week. It's called "13" and will be released June 11th. I posted this on the 1 song imprint thread on this forum but thought anyone on this thread might want to read these too:

"So, you’ll be very happy. I think you will find it to be an enjoyable reprise of the original Sabbath sound you liked. You’ll hear what Iommi’s old riffs sound like played with modern production. I think everybody will probably find something to like about it."

"…it is a VERY good record, certainly belonging of a place in the Ozzy-era discography. It is not mind-expandingly original, nor would I want it to be. They didn't reinvent the wheel here, they are the wheel".

"".........after 35 years the architects of heavy metal weren't in this for the payload victory-lap. They came to kill it. They succeeded."

I'm very likely to be at the show as well. Hey it's Sabbath at The freakin' Gorge!! Just hoping we get 2 hours out of them though if I had a guess I'd say not likely that long of a set. REALLY looking forward to the new album and to seeing new songs played live. Now guys, if you'll just play the full version of "Supernaut" on this, the 6th time I will have seen you, my live Sabbath experience in life will be totally complete.

  • As of May 2012 Tommy Clufetos plays with Black Sabbath, filling in for original drummer Bill Ward.[3] However, he did not perform on the upcoming album, 13, as Brad Wilk ended up behind the kit during the recording sessions.

I had no idea that Rage Against the Machines drummer recorded for the album......

Are they supposed to say middle of nowhere? We get it. America is clueless. Except Prince IIRC.

  • This would such a good show. Heard about it on the radio yesterday, I am seriously considering going, haven't been to The Gorge but heard it is a great place to see a concert. Some legends throwing down right there.

It's an amazing place to see a show. From what I've heard only Red Rocks in Colorado is better.

I beg to differ. The Red Rocks is cool but Gorge is tough to beat.

  • I WILL take in a show at Red Rocks one of these summers. Here's a great pic of Rush playing there a couple of years ago from their POV. Amazing.

    Gorge concert rules:
1.) Bring shorts and a tank-top to wear while the sun is up.
2.) Bring thermal underwear and a down jacket to wear after the sun goes down.
3.) Do not ignore rules 1 and 2.

You've obviously been there my friend!! And August 24 is guarenteed 90-100 degrees before the sun goes down.
And Rob is right, a beautiful place to see a show. The view from up on the lawn is the best though furthest from the stage.

Disagree. And End of the Beginning is even better. There's a live version of it from New Zealand last night on youtube.
