Leaving their best player unblocked was the plan. Mind = Blown.

4D chess? DJ Dallas is a third stringer! Morons.

The Seahawks have been doing dumb crap like this for years.

Their protection schemes make no sense, going back to the Cable years. Jimmy blocking the other teams best pass rusher ring any bells?

It reminds me of Holmgren telling stories about his assistant coaches telling Holmy they can block the other teams best pass rusher with a TE or a back.

Holmgren said he would look at them funny and tell them, "No. We aren't doing that."

I miss Holmgren's no nonsense approach.

The design of the play was not to throw for a first down. Unbelievable.

KJ talked about that play. Said McVay liked to run it with Gurley but they blocking scheme we used was completely wrong. Out of all people to leave unblocked, on top of that relying on DJ Dallas on 4th.

This has got to be the lowest football IQ coaching staff. Any coach worth his salt would fire Waldron yesterday

Wow. What in the players on the field would make you think this has any chance of success.

I would have been fine seeing one of those multi-TE formations where one is in the backfield with a few different options - Lockett and JSN were good getting loose for short sideline gains, DK on a slant, a TE chipping and dropping into space

But expecting DJ to come across the face and create enough space and throwing area to catch the ball and then gain 5-6 yards YAC with an unblocked Parsons in that area - that is the design & #1 read

Yikes

What about running a smoke screen to the special team's gunner on the 1 yard line for the Owl? This dumb staff predates Waldron. Pete has to go with him.

It was a good game by Waldron for the most part otherwise, but gahdayum. Absolutely galaxy brained that one. "Leave Micah Parsons free and give Geno exactly one option to go to (but he has to come from the other side of the formation, run across the entire pass rush unscathed, find a lane, and then have Geno lob it over perhaps the best edge defender in football who we, again, left unblocked). Worked with the Rams sometimes, man."

But I can already hear it coming.

"Here's how Pete is actually the one who called the play, you'll notice that sometimes he (the not playcaller) specifically dictates that we use suboptimal personnel for Rams staples (that he implemented himself, and not the guy from McVay's staff) because Pete actually wants to lose. You'll also notice that the moon is in a waning gibbous phase and that Dallas spells Sallad backwards, Mercury is in retrograde, and that Pete Carroll is a virgo so clearly this influenced him to call the play himself, which he designed himself, as the coordinators are actually just lackies who do nothing. Remember the time he, uh... I dunno, sometimes they lose, gotta be Pete. Clearly. Nothing in the world could've changed this call. Do offensive coordinators even exist, or are they a Pete Carroll psyop? Illuminati probably"

The 4D chess, in this case, was more like a guy trying to shove a Cracker Barrel peg game up his own butt.

The overall performance was pretty good otherwise though, honestly.

Per Matty Brown:

Hawks ran same play on 4th vs the rams and succeeded.

We had the perfect play designed and called. We didn't realize Parsons was so quick.

We've decided it might help usbto recogniize things like that by actuslly watching some game film on him next time.

Oh I guess that means Holmgren was a bad coach.

What does it matter? That was almost 11 years ago and 7 since last playoff win.
Never said he was. You tried putting words in my mouth. Holmgren was a great coach. He still won 0 rings for us while Pete won a SB. Those are the facts.

Opinions are wild wishing for a coach who I remember fans saying "Holmgrens teams are soft" and "he can never get a win at 10am".

Holmgren would get killed nowdays by the same fans who wish for him again. Constant complainers will always be that.
