Good lord if only we had the Eagles OL.
The Eagles are stacked on offense, but Hurts is not good. Great O-line, Barkley, Goeddert, Brown, Williams and they still can't operate an NFL passing game because of Hurts. They should be unstoppable
I think it all depends on whether they ever get more stud pass rushers so that Carter only has to beat one guy. He is close to unblockable 1-on-1, which is why he gets double-teamed 70% like Donald was. But he still has not beaten the double team as well as Donald. Good but not yet great. On the other hand, this is just year two and he may still be on the learning curve. Anyway, I am sure as hell that Poles should have drafted him instead of Wright.Carter will not be doning a gold jacket me thinks. He will be just okay but not a stud HoFer. Spoon? He has a legit shot.
His team built an offense to suit what he does well and that's worked for them. There's stuff he could do better in the passing game, but the threat he poses with his legs tied--with Saquon Barkley and an O-Line that enables both--leads to a good offense.Hurts can be hit/miss. Trending down the last few years, but that's not saying much since he still produced at a high level. I'd be concerned if he doesn't turn it around moving forward. But right now, his team is winning games and that's good enough for today's NFL.
If only..
Yeah I just think he's extremely limited as a passer. He cannot operate in a drop back world at even an average level. He's a + in the run game, but the list of QBs that would make that offenses ceiling higher is way too long for what they're paying him. When I saw him standing there holding the ball forever I thought either the Packer coverage on the back is outstanding or his head still isn't right. My friend who is an Eagle fan had a third option - he's not good at reading zone coverages.
GB held them down on D well enough to force Philly out of their comfort zone, but couldn't do anything on O to make Philly chase. His team built an offense to suit what he does well and that's worked for them. There's stuff he could do better in the passing game, but the threat he poses with his legs tied--with Saquon Barkley and an O-Line that enables both--leads to a good offense.
If/when the Eagles no longer have the pieces to support what he does, he's probably not going to turn into a guy who can win from the pocket, but that's not a this-season or next-season concern for the Eagles unless he suffers an injury that affects his mobility.
Yup. Two in the middle were just standing and watchingIt looked like the D-Line kinda gave up after their initial attempts failed...and this is the playoffs...
