Haven't heard from him lately. This was kind of a rough watch...he was my favorite LOBer

'Waiting for pension to kick in' Did he blow through all his money?

Saying he's trying to get back playing in the league is kind of sad. A likely HOFer talking about trying to get on the Texans and Cardinals practice squads then on the same boat saying he wanted to be paid and treated like a hofer and throwing his gent under the bus.

The only good bit is he says he made up with Pete.

I didn't like the interviewer kind of turning her nose up at him when talking about the hall of fame 'what would ravens fans say'. If he had spent a couple more seasons at Seattle it's a no brainer first ballot.

The best, and most complete member of the LOB has somehow become its most underappreciated.

Looking forward to his HOF speech next year.

Earl wasn't the biggest guy, but he hit hard and made big hits in his career and I can't remember if he ever missed time with concussions but, I do remember a lot of times he would come up slow after a bunch of big hits. Saying that, I wonder if all the craziness that was the end of his career if those hits had anything to do with it?.. I wish him all the best and the HOF is in his future, but I doubt it's first ballot just because Seahawks players are often overlooked by the national media..

I'm afraid to listen.

You are right to be.

I dont think I've ever witnessed narcissism at that level. I was an athlete, so I get the competitive fire and the need for self confidence. But my lord. It was difficult for him to acknowledge any regret for the way his career tanked.

Earl is one of those players who only was and ever can be a football player. His perspective is solely based on the game and what he was - and in his mind, what he thinks he can still be.

Hats off to the interviewer. She was incredibly kind to keep going back to Earl and pushing him to say the right thing, because on his own, based on what he said without additional prompting, it seems as though he hasn't learned much, doesnt feel like he did much wrong (and what he did was a misunderstanding - turning down the Cards offer), and obvuously thinks he is the best who ever played the position.

Earl WAS good. But he wasnt the heart of thr LOB the way he claims. Chancellor was. And he wasnt better than Polomalu or Ed Reed.. the way he claims.

Dude had a chance (a slim one) to change the perception around him and all he did was make it obvious that he is who we thought he was.

And here i was thinking he was a good dude who was in a dark place for a bit. After this interview, i think he's just arrogant, entitled and delusional.

He mentioned maybe getting into coaching if he doesn't hook up with a team. I honestly dont see that working out either.

Best of luck to him.

I just felt sad seeing him out of shape, some extra weight in one sense talking about hall of fame, pensions etc while in the other trying to get back to playing. practice squad tryouts but wanting paid. Maybe they have already but Kam, Sherman and all need to just sit him down and give him a reality check.

He's the same age as me but looks old. I hope someone gives him good advice about his post career because if not I fully expect him to do one of those celebrity boxing things or something.

My money is on him being diagnosed with CTE after he passes.
did he have concussions while he played for the Seahawks or Seahawks organization just brushed it off? You see those hits that he made as a Seahawk and it makes you wonder.

He says he is STILL the best safety in the league, that's when I shut it off.

Without Earl, nobody knows who Kam Chancellor is today.

Without Kam, Earl is still the best safety of his generation.

Really no question of who was better and more important to the success of the LOB.

Any PR to experts here on .net ? Please volunteer to help one of our LOB members. He clearly suffered some damages and could benefit from your help. Gotta volunteer as he couldn't afford paying.

I assume the interviewer didn't ask him about giving Pete the finger? If not, I'm not watching a softball interview.

Yup.

Celebrity boxing would be ok, because my fear is that the alternative is when reality hits him and he sees that his career is done and that (assuming he doesnt change his stripes) coaching isn't reality, he wont be able to cope and ends up a 'statistic' .

Pretty sad.

No. She went straight to him and prodded him to try to talk about what he learned from that, the conflict in Baltimore, his post player drama... she gave him a chance to address it directly and he basically just shrugged it off. No regrets, no accountability.
