I currently have an authentic SpeedFlex Riddell helmet in the throwback colors/logo which I love. I put it on the coffee table every Gameday. Awesome Gameday centerpiece. However, I really like those new Riddell Axiom helmets (see below). I tried finding a Seahawks Axiom authentic helmet on eBay but apparently they don’t exist yet on the open market. Axiom helmets have a very distinctive almost triangular pattern on the sides. Sam Howell is sporting one.

Anyone have ideas on how to source one?

As I understand it, the Axiom is currently nearly impossible for the replica helmet artisans to order for any reasonable charge. The Axiom is built-to-order based on a 3D scan of the head of the player it's being made for, and I don't see an option to order a standard shell outside of that. It's literally built to fit each head.

This means that the artisan guys would have to spend like $700 and wait over a month just to get the helmet, and that's just the plain single-color shell. They then have to go through the process of customizing the helmet by putting a multi-stage NFL quality paint job on it and sourcing appropriate decals for the logos, customizing the helmet bumpers, etc.

Sorry to say but with the Axiom specifically, you're probably going to have to reach out to one of these helmet artists and go the custom route, and it'd probably end up being near or at double what the Speedflexs cost since you could just order those shells en masse with a million customizations like facemasks and whatnot available instantly.

Also, if you have any connections that might know a person on the equipment staff, now might be the time to ask around. I'd expect them to have the inside track on ordering an Axiom and you might be able to just pay them. Longshot, but might be possible.

Wow dude, that’s some sound insight. Appreciated!

I think you are right. These don’t appear to be mass production helmets that Riddell will sell to the public, offered in all NFL team colors like their popular SpeedFlex. A different animal.

I’ll keep my eyes peeled. Maybe down the road they will offer a replica version.

I see the same as Maelstrom. The speedflex is $770. The Axiom is $900+ and you have to have a head scan. I suspect they'll be more widely available and at a lower price after January when demand is lower.

Agreed. Riddell is like any corporation. They want to maximize dollars so if they see a potential revenue stream with the fans they will capitalize just like they have with all their other helmets so far.

I predict Axiom custom NFL helmets will be available on their official site within a year or two.

I hate replicas. I’m an authentic nerd. I have no problem waiting for the real deal. Not at $900 bucks though, lol.

You can buy the helmets through 1 of the sites the search engine came up with, but that wouldn't have team colours. Just curious - would you be happy with a genuine off the shelf helmet that didn't exactly fit your head or would you need a personalised head-scan helmet?

Oh I could care less about a personalized head scan helmet. What’s important to me is that it is an authentic helmet with all the same details and features - inside and out - that the players would wear on gameday. Authenticity is everything to me.

In this case, size does not matter. 😂

Oh man, me too. They're so hokey and cheap, I'd rather have no helmet than a replica. Mini helmets are a close second.
