I bet the hawks sign Connor Williams to play center

What's nice about Williams is his versatility. He can play several positions on line and would be good to have a veteran start at center but can adjust if needed.

It would make a lot of sense. I kind of always thought Harris was brought in to ease the transition and help with Grubb's terminology.

Connor was one of the two guys I was most vocal about wanting to pursue when free agency started (Christian Wilkins the other). I kinda just assumed he had ended up somewhere and am shocked he's available still. That knee must be in worse shape than I would have guessed. Potential huge value signing if it does check out. Interior OL has some scary worst case scenario potential as is currently.

i suspect this is more to see how far along Williams is in his recovery from his injury. If he is far along enough then he could be added but maybe not until after game 1. I guess it will depend upon how much they want his experience.

Do suspect that the strong inside pass rush is giving the young C's and the younger OGs fits in protection.

Connor just turned 27 in May. Let's not act like this is a Jason Peters kind of thing.

Completely agree not the same at all as with Peters, acquiring Williams if he's healthy enough to play would be a smart move and could strengthen the interior OLine incredibly. However, only if he's ready to play even so if it might be smart to sign him and let him recover.

This will be quite cost dependant.

He's being brought in to give some experience. I doubt he takes the starting center spot.

I'm not at all sold on Olu. There's a reason why despite winning some impressive trophies, he dropped all the way to the 5th round. He's not a good run blocker. I'm glad they're talking with Williams. He might not be the answer to our long term problem at that position, but at least it shows that they're aware they have one and are trying to do something to fix it.

He just tore his ACL I believe in December. However, if he's healthy enough to play, would probably be the best offensive lineman on the team day 1.

Interesting signing of the rookie Jalen Sundell from NDSU, while Sundell is listed as a T in the team press release he's played a lot of C at a high level in college. It'd seem for now that Connor Williams may not be ready to go or the price was not right.

This is interesting!

If Williams passed the physical he may just need time to get in playing shape but as many here have observed he is a good solid NFL interior Lineman. The price will need to be right for both sides.

The interest here in Williams and the signing of Sundell seemingly indicates that Olu and Harris may not be all the team wants at the OC position.
